There is little to say that has not been said, and to the last word I do not aspire. The "last word" of criticism, my friend Mr. Birrell very shrewdly says, may be left to the "last man." It has been my wish to do something to bring the poetry of Landor within reach of the public, but here my desires have an end. I have not the showman's art. To preface a great author, to take the chair for a great speaker - to do these things to the admiration of practised editors, and incurable chairmen, requires an ampler prose than mine. It is really just a recreation of a collection of pages from old catalogues. I was hoping for more information & history of some of the Chickering models. This was not worth $18 to me. Would have been helpful if the seller had given examples of some pages.
