Synopsis
Excerpt from The Unfortunate Englishmen: Or a Faithful Narrative of the Distresses and Adventures of John Cockburn, and Five Other English Mariners, Who Were Taken by a Spanish Guarda Costa and Set on Shore at Porto Cavallo Naked and Wounded The ensuing history is so full of extraordinary events, surprising deliverances, and such a variety of accidents, that there is no question but the reader will be most agreeable amused and entertained in the perusal of it. The character of the author, which is too well established to suspect him guilty of any fallacy, secures the work from the imputation of fabulous; and the narration itself is told in so simple and easy a manner, that the meanest capacity will find no difficulty in understanding every part of it. Every page he reads will afford delight and wonder; and the farther he proceeds, the more will he be astonished at the surprising occurrences he meets with. But this is not all: the story is full of instruction; and whoever reads it with attention may improve his understanding, at the same time that he pleases his fancy. - s***s (18)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseSeller was fine, arrived promptly with good packaging and in perfect condition. But I should have asked questions about the book. It is really just a recreation of a collection of pages from old catalogues. I was hoping for more information & history of some of the Chickering models. This was not worth $18 to me. Would have been helpful if the seller had given examples of some pages.
