Label says genuine leather, so maybe not cowhide as mentioned on the Ebay merchant's page. I showed the coat to a leather goods expert. He told me it was probably lambskin or sheepskin napa and said it would still be very durable. It's a very soft and supple jacket. Early convo could've been a bit better after I changed postage address from local pickup place to my home. Overall I am still very happy and would buy from merchant again.
