A history of the Western Union army that could come closest to say that it won the war. Fort Henry, Shiloh, Vicksburg, Chattanooga, Atlanta and the March through Georgia. Of course there are others but you get the idea. The author is an acknowledged authority on the Civil War and this book furthers his reputation.
