  • Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream!

Matt Wagner's remodeled version of the classic Golden Age DC comic-book character, is nothing short of brilliant. His take on the character (who itself is a take on radio's Green Hornet) is both gritty and involving. His feel for the time period and the people of that time is spot on. The artists chosen to bring his words to life are perfect for the series. Gone are the flashy, shapely supermen and women of todays modern comics. The art style here returns us to the gangster era of cheap booze, speak-easys and sinners on every corner. Wesley Dodds, our hero, doesn't tower over other other men in physical form. It is his deeds and actions against the corrupt and criminals of that time that set him apart. Bravo!
