Written in 1937 after the Great Depression, this book was intended to be put in the hands of all those who lost their jobs and needed a guide to get back to positive living. It was intended to be put in schools so every child and young adult would grow up with the same knowledge all the great successful leaders had. This didn't happen and today people struggle more than ever. No home should be without this book and it should be taken seriously and used as a textbook, not a novel. The goal is not just for money, the "rich" part can mean happiness, relationships or anything you desire. In simple terms, it's all about having an Idea, Making Plans for the Idea and creating a Burning Desire to make your plan work. It MUST have Persistence to survive. That's all it is, BUT, it's how you get there that escapes most people. To get the most out of Think and Grow Rich takes more than one read. The first time around you get familiar, the second time you hear more of the message and this message makes more and more sense as you study. The reason I think it doesn't work for most people is our innate lack of belief and confidence in ourselves. We look outward for acceptance and fitting in, and all the while our real strength comes from inside us once it is developed. Think and Grow Rich should be named Think and Live and anyone seeking a more enriched lifestyle can find it in these lessons. It teaches the very basic use of our brains and the power within when used with a purpose of harmony, not greed or negativity. I get Think and Grow Rich and the only reason I am not rich right now is because I never follow through with my plans or dreams and perhaps this is why we end up aging and looking back and saying..."If I only knew then what I know now"....if you want to eliminate this for your future, study this book as if it were the last book on earth and your only chance of survival. That may sound a bit dramatic, but I've never seen so much well written, well intended information as this book. Opportunities really do pass us by quite frequently, but how will you ever recognize them if you're not aware they exist?Read full review
I had already been a long-time fan of Napoleon Hill and had previously owned the CD audio set, but had lost it. I am elated to have it again, and have been listening at every opportunity. His concepts are fantastic, motivating, and in my personal experience... they work. I'm not rich yet, but I plan to be one day. The techniques have produced more money and more opportunity for both myself and my spouse.
