||“As the pictures show, this silver cup is in very good condition with age appropriate tarnish. No dents/cracks but minor surface marks from handling which should disappear with polishing. Measures about 2.75" in diameter; 2" tall and with the dragon handle adding about 1" at the widest point. Weighs about 83.3 grams according to our scales. Engraved with the name of the original officer to receive it "1st LT WILLIAM F. ASHBY, CO.A 31ST INFANTRY". It is one of 65 that were originally created along with a large silver bowl (the Shanghai Bowl) by a Shanghai silversmith from Chinese silver dollars. The presentation was on July 7, 1932 to commemorate the close bonds which united the officers under all the difficulties fighting. 2016 is the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the 31st Regiment. You can own a piece of it's original ceremonial history. The 31st duplicated 100 cups in 2007 and they are marked with that date. This is an ORIGINAL! Google Shanghai Bowl for more info-NoReserve”
