Setting up and changing your payment method

When you create a seller account, you’ll need to add a payment method to pay for any eBay selling fees or charges. You can choose direct debit, credit card or PayPal as your payment method.

We’ll email you a monthly invoice with details of all your seller fees—including fees for listings, sales, subscriptions, refunds made to buyers, and shipping label charges. With a payment method set up, we’ll automatically charge the invoiced amount by the due date.

Setting up an automatic payment method

Here’s how to set up or change your payment method:

  1. Go to your Seller Account - opens in new window or tab in My eBay.
  2. Look for Payment methods for seller fees and select Change automatic payment method.
  3. From the dropdown menu, choose your preferred payment method.
  4. Enter your information and select Save or Continue.

If you choose direct debit or credit card, you’ll need to enter your bank or card details. If your card is declining during verification, while making payment, or at some other time, you should contact your card issuer.

You usually can’t use a pre-paid credit card to verify your account.

Tip
Update your payment details at least 2 business days before your next invoice date to ensure we use the new information.

Making a one-time payment

You can make a one-time payment on your eBay seller account using PayPal, direct debit, credit card, check, or money order. Just be sure to make your payment at least 5 days before the due date. If you mail in a check or money order, it’s best to send it 10 days before the due date to allow for delivery time.

Because you’re required to have an automatic payment method on file, be sure you aren’t making a duplicate payment when you make a one-time payment for your fees.

Here’s how to make a one-time payment:

  1. Go to your Seller Account - opens in new window or tab in My eBay.
  2. Look for Payment methods for Seller Fees and select one-time payment.
  3. Select your payment method and enter your payment details.

Payment requirements and late fees

We require that accounts with a fee amount of $1.00 or more be paid in full each month in order to maintain great experiences for buyers and sellers on eBay. If your account becomes past due, and you have an issue paying your fees, you should contact us.

We may suspend or restrict accounts if fees are not paid. You can read more about your responsibility when it comes to paying fees in the fees section of our User Agreement.

Once you set up a payment method, we’ll automatically deduct any amount due on the date specified on your monthly eBay invoice.
