Nike Free 5.0 & Nike Free Trainer 5.0 - A Guide to the Nike Frees!
The Nike Frees are Nikes lastest running and cross-training shoes - and really are the ultimate in comfort, lightness, style and speed. I am a self-proclaimed Nik Sneaker freak and these are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn! I purchased them and have enjoyed them in the gym, during a 5k race, and am planning on using them during my upcoming Olympic Distance Triathlon.
The Nike Free and Nike Free 5.0 are intended to simulate barefoot running - which works more muscles within your legs, your core strength, etc
"From Nike: Studies suggest that barefoot runners develop stronger feet. Natural motion builds strength, and strength means speed. Nike Free is all about speed. But first you'll need to build your muscles, because Nike Free takes some getting used to."
The Nike Free 5.0
The Nike Free 5.0 is built purely for running - shown below and is focused on breathabilty (see the mesh-like panels on the shoe).
The Nike Free Trainer 5.0
The Nike Free Trainer 5.0 is built more for cross training - featuring a strap across the mid-section of the foot. These fit more snuggly than the Free 5.0s
