About Westward Journey Nickels
Norman is a numismatist. Of course, there is nothing wrong with that, he is one of many coin collectors and he and some of his colleagues have really been enjoying the acquisition of Westward Journey Nickels. The United States Mint released the first Westward Journey Nickel series set in 2004 to commemorate the companion bicentennials of the Louisiana Purchase and the Lewis and Clark expedition. The 2005 Westward Journey Nickel showed a more modern Jefferson image on the obverse and then two reverse designs. The first features a handsome American bison, symbolizing the American Indians and wildlife encountered during the Lewis and Clark expeditions and the second is a scene of the Pacific Ocean from the Astoria, Oregon coast, representing an entry in Captain William Clark's journal in November 1805 in which he exclaims the expedition's arrival at the Pacific Ocean. Norman has a complete collection of both of the series, both in "mint" condition, which he acquired from eBay. Norman find eBay is a good place to troll for coins because interesting old coins often turn up there.
