About Triumph Thruxton
If you were a young and rebellious motorcycle enthusiast in the 1960s, you would probably have been part of the cafe racer scene. The Triumph Thruxton is built in the spirit of that subculture. The scene involved young British bikers who would customize their motorcycles and then race them between roadside coffee shops. The bikes looked a lot like the retro Triumph Thruxton motorcycle you can buy today, which are available from a vast range of sellers on eBay. The styling is its first and most striking feature. There is a cover on the passenger seat making it look like an old-style single-seat racing bike. The handlebars are narrow and the foot pegs are positioned slightly behind the rider. The air cooled parallel twin engine sits proudly in the center of the bike while the megaphone-style exhausts sweep up. All of this makes the bike look just like customized machines of the 1960s. But while the styling of the Triumph Thruxton is retro, the technology is anything but. The 865cc engine puts out 70bhp and it has a top speed of 110mph. It also has modern brakes and electrics.
