About Shelby Cobra
Designed by Carroll Shelby, the first Shelby Cobra drew on the best automotive brains on both sides of the Atlantic with a body manufactured by British-based AC Cars and a powerful V8 engine courtesy of American car company Ford. The result is the iconic Shelby AC Cobra, a tiny two-seater designed to do just what Carroll Shelby liked to do: go as fast as possible in the shortest amount of time. Shelby built the Cobra from 1962 to 1967, starting with the MKI and switching over production to the MKII in 1963. The MKIII, also known as the 427 Cobra because of its engine, is perhaps the most impressive and rarest of all, with only 55 originally made by AC Cars. It is possible to find both replacement Shelby Cobra parts for this iconic early racing vehicle, as well as complete replica kits on eBay. A replica kit, which comes with a fiberglass body frame attached to a chassis, can make any vehicle look like a Shelby Cobra and is the next best thing to owning an original model.
