About Sasha Dolls

When Sasha Morgenthaler began making dolls, she did not do it to make money — she did it so that kids who could not afford dolls might have the chance to own one, and she chose images that reflected children of all races, backgrounds, and circumstances. From this desire, the Sasha doll was born, and it became popular around the world. It was manufactured in Germany between 1965 and 1970 and 1995 and 2001, and in England between 1966 and 1986. Today, the doll is a hot collectors' item, and you can find a vast inventory on eBay. The original vintage dolls came with one skin color, meant to be a blend of all races, but later dolls come with darker and lighter skin. The boy and girl dolls are 16 inches and scaled to actual human proportions, while baby and toddler dolls are between 11 and 12 inches. Another reason why the dolls were so popular is that they came with realistic looking clothes. Most outfits came with certain dolls, while others were sold separately. The Sasha doll is both a part of toy history and a representation of one doll maker's wishes for humanity — something you cannot get from most toys and collectibles.
