About Matt Flynn

If anything, Matt Flynn is an example of how temperamental the environment in the NFL can be. Quarterbacks lose spots without notice, circumstance eliminates opportunity, and great performances are often forgotten, no matter how many times they occur. Following a phenomenal senior season at LSU where he led the Tigers to a BCS National Championship and was named the game’s offensive MVP, Flynn was selected as the 209th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. Flynn played a supporting role for the Packers, serving as an understudy to star quarterback Aaron Rodgers for three years before his first NFL start. After several promising performances in Rodgers’ shadow, Flynn signed a contract with the Seattle Seahawks, expecting to compete for a starting spot with rookie Russell Wilson. Circumstance once again cost Flynn a starting job, causing him to bounce around the league before landing back in Green Bay, performing well once again in Rodgers’ absence. Packers fans can honor the quarterback’s gutsy performances in green and gold with a Matt Flynn jersey on eBay, or by getting their hands on a Matt Flynn rookie card. Flynn has proven that he can perform well under pressure, so it just may be a matter of time before the right opportunity for him emerges in the NFL.
