About GIA Diamonds

Diamonds form hundreds of miles deep inside the earth, where they become nearly indestructible hunks of shimmering crystal. It takes a great deal of luck and effort to find a diamond, and only the best pieces are worthy of the GIA diamond distinction. Short for the Gemological Institute of America, this group gives diamonds grades based on the 4Cs: cut, clarity, color, and carat. Buyers do not need to grasp the intricacies of the grading process, but they do need to understand that the grade given to a GIA-certified diamond ring is as good as gold. For instance, a GIA F diamond means that the crystal has a colorless grade, with only E or D diamonds being higher in overall color value. Since color is only one component of a diamond's worth, you have to compare it with the other grades to judge the overall value of the stone. A GIA diamond for sale on eBay that has high grades in all four categories is likely very expensive. Even a half-carat stone can be worth a small fortune. However, whether you purchase diamond jewelry that is new or used, these precious gems are sure to last a lifetime and beyond.
