About Ducati 900SS

The Ducati 900SS can trace its roots back to the Ducati bike that won the Imola 200 in 1972. Like that bike and other sports bikes in Ducati's SuperSport line, its design emphasizes excellent handling at high speeds rather than brute force. Even then, the 904 cc two-valve Desmo V-twin engine in the 900SS is no slouch. It delivers 80 horsepower and responds to the direction of the Ducati's 6-speed close ratio transmission. Other premium high-performance parts for the 900SS include Brembo brakes and Showa suspensions. This classic bike looks different from most of the modern bikes that Ducati makes. For example, the Ducati 900SS seat looks like a cafe racer seat and encourages an upright riding position. In the 1990s, Ducati offered the 900SS with a full or half fairing. Although the last 900SS came out in 2002, you can still find a wide selection of OEM Ducati 900SS fairing kits in the large inventory of Ducati bikes and parts on eBay. Even though the SS bikes made way for the SportClassic line, the Ducati 900SS remains a modern classic with vintage styling and racing roots.
