About Datsun Roadster

When people think of classic cars they conjure up images of the bulky Task Force trucks from Chevy or the slick, iconic shape of 1970s muscle cars. Yet while the American version of automotive history is integral, the Datsun Roadster should not be overlooked. This was Japan's premier lightweight automobile that was produced from 1932 up to the Second World War, with 1941 being the last model year. Searching through such a vast inventory on eBay is a great way to look for offers on these rare finds. The 1932 Type 11 Roadster is the earliest model you can find — powered by a 495-cubic-inch, straight-4, 10-horsepower engine. Curiously, there is also a 1931 Type 11 model with the same powertrain, although these are named "Datson" not "Datsun." When you look for 1935 versions, you can see that the Datsun Roadster is replaced by the Road Star. These use a 722-cubic-inch, 14-horsepower engine and come available in a coupe model, as well. Later models — namely in 1937 — had some higher specs. The 1937 version can reach 16 horsepower, but these cars are not revered for their performance. If you want to check out more classic models, the Datsun Fairlady Roadster, or Datsun Sports line, has a number of sports car models manufactured in the 1960s and 1970s.
