About Chrysler Conquest
Mitsubishi and Chrysler may not be auto brands that normally go together. That is, unless, you are talking about the Chrysler Conquest, also known as the Mitsubishi Starion in Japan. This two-door turbocharged sports car marked Mitsubishi's entrance into the grand tourer class of sports cars of the 1980s with its first model using electronic fuel injection. Stateside, the Chrysler Conquest offered drivers a first in the sport coupe division, enhanced by a number of impressive features. Most notable, the Conquest features a 2.6-liter turbocharged engine capable of anywhere from 150 to 198 horsepower. It also features both 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission options, and stands out thanks to its aerodynamic body shape, further enhanced by MacPherson strut suspension and gearbox steering. Produced in limited quantities between 1982 and 1991, both the Chrysler Conquest and the Mitsubishi Starion enjoy vintage status today. For this reason, many enthusiasts shop on eBay for the parts and accessories they need to rebuild them. The supercharged sports car market has come a long way since the 1980s, but that does not make the originals any less important. Invest in history and the kind of car that set a standard, not only between two companies, but also among the larger market.
