About Buick Electra 225

There are lots of American made cars that sell in huge numbers outside of the US. The Buick Electra 225 is not one of them because it is a big car made for the type of big roads that only the United States can offer. The 225 part of the name is reference to its length — 225 inches, or 18.75 feet. They were made by Buick from 1959 until 1990, and there is a vast inventory available on eBay. The first generation came in several different configurations — four or six windows, two or four doors, hardtops or convertibles. The second generation, from 1961 to 1964, got a redesign, and the fins were dropped. The 1964 Buick Electra 225 was the last of this generation, but it marked a change in design that was to last for decades. This included the bodywork running over the rear wheels. The 1965 Buick Electra 225 got another redesign to make it less boxy. This also marked the start of the third generation, which lasted until 1970. In 1971, the Buick Electra 225 became a car that would define automobiles for that decade, with long hoods, enormous interiors, and a big V8 — up to 6.7 liters.
