About 1903 S Morgan Dollars
Over 10 million Morgan silver dollars came from the United States Mint in 1903, and the few that remain have a century-old story to tell. An uncirculated 1903 S Morgan dollar is rare and treasured for its low mintage numbers and high grade. Mintage numbers, the quantity of coins produced each year, are important to the value of an item. A 1903 P Morgan dollar came from the Philadelphia Mint along with 4,652,000 others, so it is not particularly valuable. A 1903 O Morgan dollar made at the New Orleans Mint is worth more than a coin from the Philadelphia Mint, even though it made over 4,000,000 coins that year, because coins bearing the "O" mint mark are difficult to find. Yet none of these approach the value of the 1903 S Morgan dollar available from reliable sellers that offer convenient shipping. The San Francisco mint produced just over 1,200,000, and those in the uncirculated grade, the highest coin condition there is outside of proof and bullion coins, are highly coveted by collectors shopping on eBay.
