The Sony PlayStation Vita is a handheld video game console that was first released in Japan in 2011. One of the six colors released for this console was white, which is able to play all sorts of games and other media content.

What kind of games does the PS Vita play?

The PS Vita has an eclectic assortment of games in multiple genres, both published by Sony and other studios. A few titles for the system include:

  • Persona 4 - Dancing All Night: A spinoff of the PlayStation 2 game Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4, this rhythm game features a new adventure for the Investigation Team as they tour Japan solving the mystery of a string of disappearances.
  • Gravity Rush - This action-adventure title follows the amnesiac Kat as she uses her ability to manipulate gravity on the journey to uncover her past in a floating city.
  • Resident Evil: Revelations 2 - An episodic survival horror game that follows Claire Redfield and company as they are kidnapped by a mysterious group of assailants, stranding them among deadly enemies to draw out their fear while they struggle to survive over the game's five acts.
Why is the PS Vita called a Slim?

The white version of this console is called the Slim version because it is physically slimmer. Released as the second generation of the device, it is approximately 20% slimmer and 15% lighter than the original model.

Do games for the original Vita work on Vita Slim?

Yes, all games made for the PlayStation Vita will work on the Slim. Functionally, there is no difference in how these consoles play games, meaning they have a single library between them.

Where was the white PlayStation Vita released?

The first PlayStation Vita Slim was released on October 10, 2013, in Japan. The Japanese version of the console was made in six colors, including black, white, light blue, lime green, khaki, and pink. The European and North American versions of the console (released on February 7, 2014, and May 6, 2014, respectively) come in only black and light blue, meaning any version of the system that's not those two colors will be a Japanese model. As these games are not region-locked, this does not present a problem when playing English games on the system.
