Shaq Basketball Shoes for Men

Shaquille O'Neal is a retired basketball player who was active from 1992 to 2011. During his time in the NBA, Shaquille participated in many advertising and business ventures. One type of venture he participated in was creating a variety of Reebok shoes and high-tops.

When was the Reebok Shaq Attaq released?

The Reebok Shaq Attaq was originally released in 1992 and was Shaq's signature shoe model. During this time, Shaq played for the NBA's Orlando Magic before he eventually got traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. As a result, the original Shaq Attaq footwear features Magic's team colors. These include black, steel, white, and azure.

This type of old school footwear was rereleased as a retro version several years later. The vintage version was slightly redesigned to meet newer shoe design standards. For example, the tongue of the shoe was shaped somewhat differently, and the rubber was a different consistency.

Part of the rerelease also included a variety of new colors and color combinations. For example, later models featured a design centered on the Lakers, the team Shaq played with for a majority of his career. Some even highlighted Shaq's championship wins with this team. These new colors featured the gold shade associated with the Lakers' jersey design.

How are vintage and original Reebok Shaq Attaqs different?

The 2017 rerelease of the Shaq Attaq is styled after the original. In fact, it features the same specifications as the original, including the Pump-it-Up technology. Other features of the vintage and original Reebok Shaq Attaq shoes include:

  • Leather and mesh uppers
  • Pump P336 technology
  • Injection-molded midsoles for shock absorption
  • Herringbone outsole
  • Removable sock liner that allows for the use of orthotics
Is Shaq footwear available in kid's sizes?

Shaquille O'Neal sneakers for boys vary in slightly different ways. For example, they are smaller and have less detailed inscriptions and logos. However, they still include the NBA player's logo, Velcro or lace-up closures, and color schemes similar to adult versions of the shoe.

The shoes created for this line were designed to be used for either athletic or casual purposes. As a result, many variations are worth considering. Some varieties include:

  • Slam Mid Sneakers: Pre-teen and teenager athletes were the primary target of this shoe.
  • Athletic Zip: This shoe used a broader design to make it adaptable for several types of sports.
  • Ryan Basketball: This variety was designed to be used on a basketball court.
  • Big Shot or Converge: A more casual variety designed for walking or everyday use.
