Whether you are fixing a Nintendo Wii console or merely need to clean the insides of dust, there is a large selection of tools compatible with Nintendo Wii consoles and controllers to help you get the job done. You can get back to playing your favorite Wii games with friends and family when you have the right tools. What tools do you need to repair a Nintendo Wii?
Wii consoles from Nintendo require special tools to open up the outer shell and assemble components inside the system. Many complete toolkits include an assortment of screwdrivers with tips appropriately sized for the various screws used in a Wii system. While you are fixing a Wii or Wii U, you may also want a pair of tweezers or a magnet to pull small screws out of the casing. The screwdrivers and tools required for repairing a Wii include:
- Phillips 00 Screwdriver
- Phillips 0 Screwdriver
- Tri-wing Screwdriver
- Spudger or small pry bar
Because of changes in design throughout the years, generations of game consoles may require different types of tools, even if they are based on the same design idea. Although the Wii and Wii U are two separate consoles from Nintendo, they use the same tool types. Most of the screw-head types in either system are the same type. However, the sizes may vary. Check to make sure that the toolkit you purchase is not only compatible with your gaming system but has the right size tooltips. How do you use Wii tools?
At some point while opening up a Wii or Wii U, you may need to remove several outside panels or plastic tabs. For this, you will use a small pry bar or spudger tool to lift and remove these pieces off. Be careful while doing this, since you could break the plastic parts off if you are not gentle. Throughout the entire console, you will find several small screws which can be incredibly easy to lose and hard to reach if they are dropped inside of the system. If you aren't keen on removing screws with precision, you may appreciate having a magnetic tool for removing tiny screws.
Make sure you use the right size screwdriver head for each screw. If you use something too big or too small, you may permanently strip the screw, rendering it unremovable. Always take it slowly and drive the Wii screws in or out in a straight line.Content provided for informational purposes only. eBay is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo.
