Apple practically created a new market when it introduced the MacBook Air and has continued to impress users who appreciate the light weight, high-resolution screens. Explore the wide variety of options and accessories eBay has for you.
Makes big things happen, all day long
You can create and enjoy your MacBook Air with an incredible battery lifespan that will give you up to 12 hours of energy between charges. Enjoy the latest movies and your favorite music for hours without worrying about battery life and with up to 30 days of standby time, you can go away for weeks and pick up right where you left off.
A compact SSD storage has allowed the company to provide the MacBook Air with a larger and more efficient battery that, together with an Intel Core™ processor, can give you long-lasting power from your first class or meeting in the morning up to the time you start commuting back home.
The Power is in the Core™
MacBook Air™ is powered by fifth-generation Intel® Core™ i5 and i7 processors. This ultra-efficient architecture was designed to use less power and still deliver high performance. In addition, the Intel HD Graphics 6000 processor offers advanced performance you’ll especially notice with games and other graphics-intensive tasks.
Bluetooth and WiFi technologies are essential and that is why, the MacBook Air supports ultrafast 802.11ac Wi-Fi and when this device is connected to an 802.11ac base station such as the AirPort Extreme and AirPort Time Capsule®, you can even get wireless performance that is three times faster than normal 802.11n Wi-Fi. Additionally, the MacBook Air is compatible to a wide variety of Bluetooth-enable devices such as headphones and speakers.
SSD storage: Speed and Stability
The heart of the MacBook Air is its SSD storage. Designed entirely around it, the MacBook Air becomes faster and more responsive even when multitasking. SSD storage not only benefits performance but also, this storage system makes the Air lighter and more portable than other netbooks or laptops. Available in capacities up to 512 GB, this PCIe-based SSD storage is up to 17x faster than a traditional 5400-rpm notebook hard drive. Even after a month in standby mode, the screen springs to life.
Type naturally, even in the dark
The MacBook Air includes a full-size keyboard regardless of its compactness. With backlit keys, you can continue typing in the dimmest of lights. A built-in ambient light sensor detects changes in lighting conditions and adjusts the display and keyboard brightness automatically. Late night study? Homework? Work presentation? Don’t worry about keeping the house lights on, which might be bothersome for other members of the house, you can keep on working even in total darkness.
LED-backlit display. Millions of pixels. Millimeters thin
A 1440-by-900-pixel resolution is exactly what you can get from your MacBook Air. LED backlighting makes colors bright and vibrant from edge to edge in the screen. Let yourself be mesmerized by the MacBook Air's vibrant display.
Thunderbolt 2 and USB 3. Your connection with power and speed
Connect your MacBook Air to your devices and displays with a Thunderbolt 2 port that’s twice as fast as the previous generation. MacBook Air also comes equipped with two USB 3 ports, so you can connect the latest USB 3 devices and all your USB 2 devices as well. With the perfect accessories, such as the Magic Mouse, the Rain Design mStand 360, the AirPort Time Capsule, among others, you can turn the light and portable MacBook Air into the perfect workstation.
FaceTime HD camera
Every smile looks bright, even halfway around the world with the FaceTime HD Camera. With a resolution of 720p, and a widescreen format, the wide angle provides more room to include lots of friends in the frame. It also offers high quality with sharp details for ideal streaming conditions.
The power of Stereo, loud and clear with dual microphones
When making calls, sound becomes essential and with dual mics, you get noise reduction of any background noise you don’t want interfering in your conversation. Also, when you use dictation, these mics create an adaptive audio beam that intelligently adjusts to detect your voice—instead of the noise around you.
macOS®; the reason why there is nothing else like Mac
macOS gives life to every single model of Mac. It has been tailor-made for Apple’s computers, providing features that allow the Macs to perform certain tasks in very unique ways. Its integration with iCloud allows users to keep photos, documents, and other stuff up to date on all their Apple devices. Additionally, data is protected by this OS, with strong encryption.
One iCloud® to keep them all
iCloud® stores your content and lets you access your music, photos, calendars, contacts, documents, and more from whatever device you’re on. So, if you take a picture with your iPhone® or make changes to your meeting schedule on your iPad®, iCloud makes sure everything appears on your MacBook Air, too. You can have access to all your documents, at all times.
Steve Jobs introduced the first MacBook Air during a speech at his keynote at the 2008 Macworld conference on January 15, 2008. He took Apple’s latest computer out from a manila envelope to show how light and thin their newest product was.
“We’ve built the world’s thinnest notebook—without sacrificing a full-size keyboard or a full-size 13-inch display,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “When you first see MacBook Air, it’s hard to believe it’s a high-performance notebook with a full-size keyboard and display. But it is.”
The first-generation MacBook Air was a 13.3"-only model, initially promoted as the world's thinnest notebook. In late 2008, the CPU was updated to a non-custom Penryn CPU and integrated NVidia® GeForce® graphics while the hard drive capacity was increased and the micro-DVI video port was replaced by the Mini DisplayPort. A mid-2009 refresh, introduced alongside the MacBook Pro family, featured a slightly higher-capacity battery, and a faster Penryn CPU.
Why should you buy a MacBook Air?
Still pondering if Apple’s MacBook Air is the right buy for you? Here are some features that may help you make up your mind while assessing the many options eBay has for you.
- Longer Battery Life
You can never have too much battery life and the MacBook Air likely lasts longer on a charge. The 13-inch Air endured for a full 14 hours on the Laptop Mag Battery Test, which involves continuous surfing over Wi-Fi.
- Regular USB Ports
All MacBook's have USB Type-C™ or Thunderbolt™ 3 ports. Instead of buying a raft of dongles, adapters and new peripherals, MacBook Air-owners can easily connect with their dual USB 3.0 ports.
- SD Card Slot
Do you like to take pictures with your camera and then, transfer them to your laptop? Well, the MacBook Air has a SD card slot. It's just plug and play.
- MagSafe Connector
All of the new Macs charge via USB Type-C / Thunderbolt 3, which is great because it means that these ports can send power, data and video over a single connection. The cable disconnects easily, avoiding any kind of unwanted flight through the air if someone trips with the power cord.
The MacBook Air uses Apple's old MagSafe® power connector, which is made to detach when someone puts pressure on the wire.
- The Keyboard: Improved
MacBook Air’s keyboard is comfortable, deeper and more responsive. The backlit of the keys will let you work even when the sun’s gone down.
Why is the MacBook Air a popular option for students?
- The entry-level Air won’t break the bank, and there are plenty to choose from at eBay.
- Epic Battery Life: Students need a laptop they can carry around campus all day long, without needing to recharge. The MacBook Air lasted an amazing 14 hours on a charge during the Laptop Mag Battery Test, which involves continuous surfing over Wi-Fi. Its charge lasts 6 hours longer than the average ultraportable laptop and outlasts the MacBook 12-inch (9:38), the MacBook Pro 13-inch (9:50) and the MacBook Pro 15-inch (10:32). Only a handful of PC laptops offer 14 hours of battery life or more.
- Thin and Light: While the MacBook 12-inch and some PC notebooks are even slimmer, the MacBook Air is still one of the more portable notebooks on the market, at just 0.68 inches thick and 2.96 pounds. When you add this laptop to your backpack, you might forget it’s there.
- MacBook Keyboard: Whether they're taking notes or writing a term paper, students have to do a lot of typing. The MacBook Pro and the MacBook 12-inch have shallow "butterfly" keyboards that offer only 0.5mm of vertical space below each key, compared with a more-reasonable 1mm on the Air.
How do you add memory to a MacBook Air?
Buy a logic board compatible with the MacBook Air that can hold 8 GB of RAM, which is the maximum RAM permitted by Apple for this model. An authorized Apple technician can install this for you in a few minutes. Another option is to buy a new MacBook Air with 8 GB RAM pre-installed.
Where can I find products to upgrade MacBook Air RAM on eBay?
Many Apple products, including the MacBook Air and logic boards, are available for purchase on eBay. They are available new or pre-owned. Search to see all the available options.
