Stunning - Relaxing - Educational
I recently watched Planet Earth for the first time after hearing rave reviews for months. In my opinion, it is quite simply the greatest nature/wildlife series ever filmed. Because I loved it so much I went out and bought The Blue Planet: Seas of Life. Sir David Attenborough is a fantastic narrator. Each 50-minute episode covers a specific geographical region and/or wildlife habitat (mountains, caves, deserts, shallow seas, seasonal forests, etc.) until the entire planet has been magnificently represented - all 7 continents receive some level of exposure. It took five years to film on a $25 million budget. There are several rare, never-before seen sites: a wild dog hunting party in Africa, a 100 meter high pyramid of bat guano, and the endangered Amur leopard are featured to name a few. This was one of the more relaxing and entertaining series that I have ever watched! Get it quick!

Voss Sauce
Battlefield 2142 takes you into the far future, for all-new warfare in a world that's familiar but still different. As a new ice age depletes the planet's resources, two multinational coalitions wage a brutal war for the only cause that matters - survival. The EU and PAC are armed with devastating futuristic weaponry and gear, plus Battle Walkers and vast airborne bases called Titans. I personally prefer Conquest mode - Titan games can take FOREVER!! Conquest mode is the same as in Battlefield Vietnam and Battlefield 2 = you take over spawn points to reduce the other team's number to 0. If you want to go up in rank quickly the best map to play is definitely Camp Gibraltar. It is a smaller map and games can get over quickly. Focus on getting the badges for each weapons class and awards for kill streaks, etc. This game is definitely more playable than CS or others that I have tried out. The revive feature is a major plus!

Fantastic Book
George R. R. Martin does an amazing job with the opening book in his A Song of Ice and Fire series. In A Game of Thrones, the first book of a projected six, he rewards fantasy-fans with a vividly real world (Martin is a history aficionado and draws heavily on Midieval vassalage, chivalry, and honor), well-drawn characters, complex but coherent plotting, and beautiful prose. This is easily much better written than many other fantasy series. There is no writing for the sake of filling space. The way in which he tells the story is also unique - each chapter is written from the perspective of one of the characters in the book. Each chapter has the title as the name of that character. Martin is also not afraid to kill off his main characters - even though the readers often become very attached to them. There is no political drivel or commentary from the author injected into a character's words which so often can ruin a series (a la Terry Goodkind). Martin is just telling a story - he is not judging his characters or saying what is right and what is wrong. The action also occurs at a healthy pace. There are rarely any lulls to plod through. Definitely one of the cleaner, better fantasy books that I have ever read. This book is also for mature audiences only. It is graphic in many cases. Martin portrays reality. Happy reading!
