I bought this camera as a starter camera for my daughter. It's easy to use, takes excellent pictures and videos. I chose this camera for many reasons. One in particular is the fact of interchangeable lenses. I have a Nikon D40x and love it.Read full review...

This camera is a delight to use. The faster ISO (the ability to take pictures in lower light) has been very convenient. The "Dynamic" and "Matrix" focus modes are so much more advanced than my D40 Nikon camera. Although I rated this camera as "easy to use", there is a learning curve to some of the features that make the camera better than a point and shoot. It seems as if the "Auto White Balance" is more intuitive than the D40. I am not sure how to rate the movie mode; I don't think that it is as good as my I-Phone 6, but its also a decade older technology.Read full review...

For the price it's eerything you could need in a newbie body.
I have been shooting with some of the best gear in the business. I got this camera after taking a break from digital and it's really a great little thing. For the price you get everything you need including great video. There are reasons however it's in the price range it is. As great as it is for a newbie it's sensor is a bit limited and I notice things in the image that just would not be there with my D800. Still mostly it's the user not the camera. I know it's limits and accept them.Read full review...
As you'd expect, a quality camera, w/out auto focus, as described. Otherwise, it works great.

A great camera for the price
I have two rules for buying tech:
90% good items cost $100 +/- $20
Very good items cost $300 +/- $20
This falls under the first category. I can strongly recommend this camera, whether it is photography or film you are after, this just works. Especially for the price you can find them for on eBay.Read full review...

Great camera for a beginner! I'm still learning a lot about it, but even for a novice, it takes lovely pictures.

Great beginner DSLR for newbies to photography.
This camera is a great camera for those looking to try out DSLR cameras. It is not considered a "Professional" camera by any means, however, it is a great camera to have for a first timer or beginner in the photography field. Make sure you pay attention to the lenses you choose to shoot with this camera as the type of glass (lens) you choose to use can make or break your photos. As with any camera, assuming you're NOT a professional (or you'd of gotten something better), you need to understand how to use this camera outside of the AUTO features. If you want to shoot in AUTO, buy a point and shoot style camera. You really need to take the time to learn the manual settings to get the most from this camera.Read full review...
Bang-for-Buck DSLR with great features!
I recently lost my Nikon D40 and immediately started looking for a replacement. I decided to also look at the D3100's since they weren't too much more. What an upgrade!! The picture quality seems the same or better than the D40, it also solves a few 'issues' I had w/the D40. For one, (even though I choose not to use it), you can use the back screen as a viewfinder. As well, this camera also does VIDEO! Very nice. I can't wait to keep learning the features and playing with this gem!Read full review...
