Iphone 2g (AKA 1g or classic) Hardware
We're just going to come out and say it: the iPhone has the most beautiful industrial design of any cellphone we've ever seen. Yes, it's a matter of taste, and while we imagine some won't agree, we find it hard to resist the handset's thoughtful minimalism and attention to detail.
The iPhone features the most attractive display we've ever seen on a portable device of this size, by far and bar none. While its 160ppi resolution isn't quite photorealistic, the extremely bright 3.5-inch display does run at 480 x 320, making it one of the highest pixel-density devices around today (save the Toshiba G900's mind-popping 3-inch 800 x 480 display). The screen also provides an excellent outdoor viewing experience. With optical properties reminiscent of transflective displays, the iPhone remains completely readable (if a only bit washed out) even in direct sunlight. Unfortunately, the display's viewing angle left a little something to be desired.

Not bad at all, Def great value.
For being as old as it is it still works great, the price was right. The camera is pretty good. For being made for AT&T it works nicely on T-Mobile. It lacking MMS was a downside, but with it being jailbroken there is a way to get it which I have. I prefer this to my Blackberry Curve actually, the memory is much better, and it's nice not to have to spend extra money on an SD card. It's pretty simple to use. The one major downside is the fact that Apple stopped updating the iOS at 3.1.2 which makes some Apps unattainable.Read full review...
Great entry-level smartphone with lots of killer features!
Hello all, I had been wanting an iPhone for quite a while but it never seemed to get onto the priority list! I finally purchased this one and wow... It's pretty cool! It has lots of great features as to be expected, after all, it is an iPhone! I pulled the sim card out of my Motorola Go phone and put into the iPhone and boom! I have a working cell phone and a smartphone. I know this product isn't the newest or top of the line but I do recommend this product to anyone with frugal sensibility thinking of upgrading from their basic cell phone product to an entry-level smartphone!Read full review...
For the money ($150) you can't beat it!
Overall it's a great product, some of the apps won't download because the 4.0 apps won't work with the 3.1.3 OS but normally you can find a similar app that will work. I've got over 600 songs stored on it with no problems and it's the best smart phone I've ever owned bar none! Highly recommend it if you don't want to pay $400+ for a phone. Works great with T-Mobile "pay as you go service". Unlimited web, text and talk is only $50 a month compared to AT&T's plans which just the web and data service is $30 a month not counting talk. Get this phone and go with T-Mobile pay as you go and you will be a happy camper as I am!Read full review...

I bought this because my previous phone, a Pantech Ease, was giving me issues, and I've always wanted an iPhone (no matter which it was).
I overall really like this phone! I'm not going to start complaining because this iPhone only works with EDGE and not 3G, I personally don't care, EDGE works just fine even though it is a little slow. I like the design of it and how it has the little black cap on the bottom, that makes it look cool an unique! It has a nice, sleak design that feels awesome! I like the 2 MP camera, it's pretty nice for a phone! I also REALLY like the keyboard style! it's very easy and fun to type on! It's easy to use and probably one of the best phones you'll ever have! (unless you get a newer iPhone, that is) It is also very sturdy and seems nearly impossible to break! The aluminum back really protects it! I watched a YouTube video where they threw an iPhone 2G out a 10 story window and it survived! The screen didn't even shatter!
Some things I don't like is that it vibrates REALLY LOUD and I can'y figure out how to change the intensity! I also don't like that they don't support this phone anymore and no longer supply updates for it and most new apps won't work with it. If you would like to update it to iOS 4, there are some jailbreaks that will like "whited00r", but it still will not allow you to use iOS 4 only apps. I also don't like that it doesn't record videos and will not send picture messages. You can jailbreak it and get a video recording app but it only records at 15 fps, but I'm not sure about the picture messaging.
All in all, I think this is better than the iPhone 3G and 3GS, just because it's slightly thinner, flat on the back, and less breakable. I definitely recommend!Read full review...
