Sacramento Kings Tickets

The Sacramento Kings have played in five cities since joining the NBA in 1950, including Rochester, NY, Cincinnati, Omaha, NE, and Kansas City, MO, before settling in Sacramento in 1985. Although the club has a championship on its resume, it came in 1951 when the team was playing as the Rochester Royals. That year, the Royals beat the New York Knicks in seven games to claim the title. Since the move to Sacramento, the Kings had its best season in 2001-02. The Kings advanced to the Western Conference Finals that year before falling to the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games. The Sacramento Kings play in Power Balance Pavilion.

Power Balance Pavilion, Home to the Sacramento Kings

The Power Balance Pavilion opened in 1988. The 17,317-seat facility, the NBA's smallest, has been the home of the Sacramento Kings since then. The most significant NBA contest to be held here was the sixth game of the 2002 Western Conference Finals, when the Los Angeles Lakers tied the series at three with a 106-102 victory. The WNBA's Sacramento Monarchs called the facility home from 1997-2009 before folding. The semifinals and championship match of the 2007 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship were played here. The 1993 Royal Rumble and The Bash, a one-time WWE event that took place in 2009, were also held here.

Sacramento Kings and the Western Conference

The Pacific Division of the Western Conference includes the Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, and Sacramento Kings. Although the Sacramento Kings have had little success in recent years, the team does have a winning history that dates back to 1946. Overall, the Sacramento Kings have won three division titles since joining the NBA in 1948, which includes one conference title in 1951 and an NBA Finals championship. Known at the time as the Rochester Royals, the team won the match-up in seven games over the New York Knicks.

Sacramento Kings 2012 Team Outlook

One word describes the Sacramento Kings going into the 2011-12 NBA season: Jimmer. The Kings are banking on 1st round draft pick Jimmer Fredette pumping life into their offense the way he did for the BYU Cougars last season. Fredette was a consensus National Player of the Year during his senior season at BYU, and Sacramento is hoping his scoring ability will translate to the pro level. Fredette joins a crowded back court that includes Tyreke Evans. Last season, Evans averaged 17.8 points, 5.6 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game. Moving forward will be tough in a deep Western Conference. The Kings don't have enough talent yet to make a serious run at reaching the playoffs.
