Memphis Grizzlies Tickets

The Memphis Grizzlies are one of the youngest NBA teams currently in the league. The Grizzlies joined the league in 1995 and initially played in Canada as the Vancouver Grizzlies. In six seasons there, the Grizzlies averaged just 16.8 wins per season. The team moved to Memphis in 2001 and enjoyed some success after drafting Pau Gasol the same year. Gasol helped Memphis reached the playoffs three straight times from 2004 to 2006. The Grizzlies fell off the map again with four consecutive losing seasons and traded Gasol to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2008. Memphis reemerged in the 2010-11 season, led by Zach Randolph—the team leader in scoring and rebounding. The Grizzlies capped off the season by winning their first playoff games in team history and reaching the Western Conference semifinals.

FedEx Forum, Home to the Memphis Grizzlies

Located in downtown Memphis, Tennessee, the FedEx Forum has been the home of the Memphis Grizzlies and the Memphis Tigers since 2004. Proudly owned by the city of Memphis, this arena seats 18,119 for basketball games and 11,411 for hockey. Building of the arena was paid for through public bonds, but it was Memphis-based Federal Express who bought the naming rights for the arena. FedEx Forum was the first to respond to fans' needs by installing see-through shot clocks, which replaced the standard clocks that would block the view of the court.

Memphis Grizzlies and the Western Conference

In the Southwest Division of the Western Conference, the Memphis Grizzlies compete against the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, and New Orleans Hornets. Although the Grizzlies relocated to Memphis from Vancouver in 2001, the team has stayed within the division. Unlike the Spurs, Rockets, and Mavericks, which all possess NBA titles, the Grizzlies have yet to win a division, conference, or NBA championship since joining the league in 1995.

Memphis Grizzlies 2012 Team Outlook

Fresh off its most successful season in franchise history, the Memphis Grizzlies are eager to prove it was no fluke going into the 2011-12 season. Memphis made a surprising playoff run a year ago. The Grizzlies not only won their first playoff games ever after getting swept in three previous playoff appearances, they also upset the top-seeded San Antonio Spurs to reach the Western Conference semifinals. Zach Randolph will be counted on to lead the team down low again. Randolph experienced a resurgence last season, averaging 20.0 points and 12.2 rebounds per game to lead the team in both categories. Rudy Gay showed his star potential averaging 19.8 points and 6.2 rebounds, while Mike Conley showed he is a capable point guard with per game averages of 13.8 points and 6.6 assists. Memphis will need big plays from their big three once again to make an even bigger splash in 2011-12.
