Golden State Warriors Tickets

The Golden State Warriors were founded in Philadelphia in 1946 and played in a predecessor league to the NBA, the Basketball Association of America, in its first season. The Warriors won the league's initial title on April 22, 1947. The team also claimed the 1955-56 championship before moving to the Bay Area in 1962. The team's third and final title came in the spring of 1975, when the Warriors swept the Washington Bullets in four games. The team has 11 former players in the Hall of Fame, most recently Chris Mullen. He played with the Warriors from 1985-97 and 2000-01. The Warriors currently play at Oracle Arena in Oakland.

Oracle Arena, Home to the Golden State Warriors

Oracle Arena is the largest and oldest NBA facility in the state of California. The 19,596-seat facility opened in 1966 and went through renovations from 1996-97. The arena has been home to the Golden State Warriors since 1966 with the exception of its renovation period and 1966-71. Oracle Arena is adjacent to the Oakland Coliseum, the home of the Oakland Athletics and the Oakland Raiders. Several concerts have also been held here, such as Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Grateful Dead, and Duran Duran. The arena is easily accessible, as Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) has a station just a short walk from the facility.

Golden State Warriors and the Western Conference

The Golden State Warriors face tough competition in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference, which includes teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Clippers, and Sacramento Kings. The team has yet to win the division title since its last two in 1975 and 1976. Despite the team winning only two division titles, the Golden State Warriors have won six conference championships. The team's only two NBA championships came in 1956 and 1975.

Golden State Warriors 2012 Team Outlook

The Golden State Warriors may be the most talented team in the West that failed to make the playoffs following the 2011 season, but changes are likely in a line-up where many key pieces are valuable in the open market. Golden State is in the unique position of having three legitimate star players in Monta Ellis, David Lee, and Stephen Curry. Although Lee is still finding his niche and Curry is not likely to be dealt, Ellis could be trade bait to solidify the starting five. Hopefully, Golden State will see the postseason in 2012.
