Washburn Vintage String Instruments

Marked on tailpiece: Lyon and Healy Makers - Chicago, U.S.A. “The Kerschner Unique tailpiece was available in four, five and six string versions and became standard appointment on all Washburn banjos made after 1923.”.

This Model #5350 is from the late 1920's and made from mahogany. This ukulele is Concert sized, with a scale length of 15 3/4" and an overall length of 24". The case has purple plush lining and is in very usable condition.

I bought this at an estate auction years ago. I took it to a luthier friend and he tells me it's from the 20's. It's all original except I believe the head is goat skin, and 2 clamps were replaced. The metal back which is brass and chrome plated were added later. It has a beautiful sound. The back has a few minor dings and has a spot where the chrome is worn. It has friction tuners. Has a hard maple neck with cross grain striping. The fret board is ebony and is in good shape. The tail piece is made by Waverly and needs cleaning. There is a dent in the head stock about 1/2" that should be noted The pot dia. is 10 3/4" . I can also ship to Canada. I have listed defects to the best of my ability, feel free to ask any questions. Fancy Inlays ! Really nice condition & doesn't need more than a string change and a little glue added to one area of the neck binding & one area of the top. I'd do it myself but I tend to be a sloppy gluer.

The sound is incredible. Made with solid Curly maple back and sides, as well as a curly maple 2 piece neck. It has had very little repair work done to it. The inlay is original. Original ebony bridge.

Up for sale is one Washburn Cremonatone Bowl-back mandolin which is over 100 yrs. old and in great overall condition. The pick guard is cracked and warped but other than that, the instrument is near perfect condition.

THERE ARE THREE LABELS ON THE INSIDE, ALL OF THE FACTORY EDGE BINDING IS IN PERFECT CONDITION,AROUND THE SOUND HOLE THERE IS A TINY PIECE OF SEPERATED BINDING.
