I give Mario Galaxy 2 a 4/5 only because the story isn't as creative as the first Mario Galaxy was. In Mario Galaxy, Rosalina would read a story to Mario every 2 completed missions (Getting a Star). Her story was beautiful, and very calming. Sad in a lot of parts, because her mother left to become a Galaxy (Or a giant star I think). So Rosalina waited for her, but noticed she wasn't coming back after she ventured out into space with a star she befriended she named Luma (CHUBBY STARS ARE SO CUTE...! <3). In Galaxy 2, uhhh... well there isn't much of a storyline. As usual, Bowser steals peach, she helplessly does nothing to get away AGAIN, Mario takes another journey into space just to rescue her (Every time me and my family play a Mario game we all facepalm, sigh and/or go "AWWWW CMOONNNN" when peach gets stolen). Mario Galaxy 2 even started with the Starbit Festival the first Mario Galaxy started with. The only difference was that In MG2, the action started almost right away. Why this doesn't get just 3 stars for not being as original as the first one, is because I'll always love how Mario Galaxy is a bright and colorful game. There isn't a dull spot anywhere. It gets confusing occasionally having to run around a planet upside down. I bought this because I nearly cried when Mario Galaxy had no more for me to do (Er Go, I completed the whole game). I needed more of this game. I always have loved Yoshi and his eating habits, and I'm glad they decided to add him in MG2. If I felt better about the storyline, 5 stars, no questions asked. But I somehow felt as though I was playing Mario Galaxy 1 in the beginning.... Still, I appreciate how much Nintendo does for their customers. 4/5. <3
My decision to purchase Mario Galaxy 2 was really due to my obsession with the first Mario Galaxy game. In my experience, unlike most movies, the sequels to video games are almost always better than the original. For me the jury is still out on Mario Galaxy 2. While it does have most of the elements of the original game, many of the levels seem to be a weird hybrid of Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Brothers with Yoshi thrown into the mix.
It is similar enough to the original that I still find the game fun to play and I haven't gotten to any levels that are really challenging enough that I can't finish them. I assume that there are more difficult levels to come, and if that is the case, Mario Galaxy 2 will for me become more and more interesting to play.
Overall, I think that the developers of the game have captured and expanded upon the basic elements of Mario Galaxy and thrown in a few twists to make the game fun to play.
This is a fun game, don't get me wrong. However, if you are coming from already having played SMG, you won't have your world rocked. Granted it has some new planets and such, but the game is essentially the same as the first. You collect your stars, travel around to different galaxies and do the same thing as before. It still is fun, but if you are looking for a new experience and already have the first one, this one can be skipped. If you loved the first one and are wanting more, then this is the game for you.
I have always enjoyed games in the Mario series. I had enjoyed the original Super Mario Galaxy and was interested in purchasing the sequel. The game is very much like the first and so not revolutionary like the first. Still the game is fun to play and I am happy with my purchase.
Downside is very limited multi player. Only allow an extra player to follow the 1st player which is crappy. an extra player can hook up on game but doesn't have any real play action. Collects points for 1st player. etc. Due to this I rated as GOOD not Excellent.3D Graphics are FUN. Challenging and Addictive.
The other real downfall is repeative sayings through out the Mario ship as you travel back and forth unable to by[pass them.. Still a Good Buy !! Get it on SALE if your able to. Wouldn't reccommend to buy at FULL PRICE
eBay want's me to wrte a review on a game I do not have nor have I played. I got the strategy guide but it's JUST A BOOK!
I hear this is one of the best games on the wii.
THis is a great game with some great new features, however, game play can get a little boring if this is your second time around. While there are some new puzzles I would say that the excitement comes not from the levels themselves but from the new abilities and design the game brings.
It a fun and some what challenging game. However, some of the levels are very difficult due to the sensitivity of the WII controller. I don't know what game testers let this fly, but it can get quite annoying when you are constantly dying do to a flaw in the making of the game.
When they say Super Mario Galaxy 2, they mean SUPER MARIO GALAXY...TWO, or maybe ONE-POINT-FIVE. Not much new here, except some new Mario 'suits'. Still, pretty fun to play...really exercises the parts of the mind for simultaneous multitasking and microgravity/extra-dimensional thinking...which seems like it might be good for personal evolution. Nintendo hasn't knocked one outta the park since Mario 64 though.
bought this game for the family, they enjoyed playing it and the various levels. graphics are pretty good and the adventure throughout is good to play.
