Robert B. Parker is well known for his Spenser Novels and Shrink Rap was his first literary focus on a female decteive. Sunny Randall, like Spenser, is a former police officer and now a private investigator (and a damned good one, like Spenser) I have been a Parker fan for quite some time and whenI heard of his untimely passing (17JAN10)I wanted to make sure that I completed my library
of his novels. My purchase of Shrink Rap was a replacement for a paperback copy I had (which quickly sold on E-Bay)My experiences in tracking down initial hardcovers started with E-bay and I was very fortunate as traditionally the first new books in almost any series are in limited supply as most publisher's wish to build the demand for the author's works. It's one of the reasons to follow their future publishing and release dates of 'mass distribution' paperbacks. My buying decision was simple as I found a clean copy of true first edition from a reputable E-Bay seller at a fair price. This pretty well sums thing up save for one thing....NEVER give up your search!! Make it a challenge and enjoy the hunt for bound volumes. It will be only a matter of time before books, as we know them, will be found in museums. I wouldn't enjoy having the batteries fail on my "I-whatever" as I am closing in on the surprise ending.
