Bought this tablet for web browsing and reading word/powerpoint documents, which it excels in! I love the fast internet browsing, the light weight and thinness + battery life. The tablet is very light and convient to hold with one hand while laying in bed. What blows about this tablet is that it does not have any ports for USB, HDMI or MicroSD. It is a little pricey, but well worth it. It's like a miniature computer, except no keyboard unless you buy it separately. I dislike the camera, which makes a loud snapshot when you take a picture.. And comparing to the iPad 2, this tablet is faster in performance, lighter/thinner, cost less and easier to use. If you want a tablet that delivers performance go with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, if you want a tablet that is all name brand, go with the Apple iPad 2.
**UPDATE 4/12/12: As of today, I still use my Galaxy Tab 10.1 and I absolutely love it!! When I wake up, I check my emails and the weather with my tablet. The battery life lasts for 3 days for me until it reaches 19%; I watch one hour of streaming videos daily and I browse the web and use apps for about an average of 3-5 hours total. If you're still worried about the Galaxy Tab not having an Usb adapter or micro SD and SDHC ports, Samsung has an all in one adapter for those on Amazon for less than $10. Only con for me is that the battery takes about 7-8 hours to fully recharge, but other than that it's perfect and still up to par, if not one of the best androids in the tablet market. I can't wait until ICS 4.0 is released for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
This 10-inch Android tablet has many features such as:
-A Scratch-resistant glass
-Power button on the left, with the volume rocker right next to it
-3 megapixel camera with flash, and a front-facing camera at 2 megapixels
-Bluetooth & WIFI
-This tablet has full access to thousands of apps from the Android Market
-With Samsung Allshare, this tablet can stream media to your PC and TV
-32 GIGS of storage
The downside to this tablet is that it doesn't have a USB or HDMI port, but most tablets don’t anyways.
Overall, if you want an Android tablet that is in close competition with the iPad 2, then this is it.
For the price in a competing market of tablets, this should definately not be skipped over. I believe the build quality, and multi tasking and availble applications available on this device are great and the manouverability is perfect for new users to portable devices like this and veterans alike. Overall, the battery life could be better when running certain processes like most things, certain applications and tasks use the battery a lopt more than other, and when you add this to being connected to wifi, downloads, and bluetooth, this all can add up to draining the battery very quick. If you know how to conserve and use the battery wisely, this will not be a problem for you. I am satisfied with this product and definately would recommend to someone who is willing to pay mid price for a tablet that is a good competiter in the war of the tablets.
I'm a apple man and I bought the Samsung tab not only to try out but because it was different. First of all it's good to have flash player, not that it's used all the time but when needed its there.
The sceen size could be bigger (like the ipad) but for the price you pay I can understand.
iPad is easy to use and setup Samsung tab....... Yer it took me a while but I got it.
If you have music on iTunes , you need an app for that on the tab, movies not to sure how to do that yet, same with photos. The camera on the tab is not as good as iPad.
Overall it's good value nice graphics & display the battery life is very poor and I do miss the home button.
This is my second Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7510 (my first one is waiting to have its shattered screen replaced) and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone seeking a high-quality, speedy Android alternative to the ubiquitous iPad.
Pros include an extremely vivid and highly-legible display, fast Android 4.0 ICS operating system, and a dizzying array of available apps from the Google Play store. Cons are shared with most other tablets of this size: it's a bit bulky and tiring to hold as an e-book, and battery life is middling (less than a day of moderate use on a full charge.)
While pricier than some other new (and smaller) tablets, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 still represents a great value for the money.
Overall pretty happy with this product. It was delivered in good time and was as described.
The pad is fast and has huge battery life, although it takes an age to charge. It is very light and great to carry around.
I have not used an iPad, as I am allergic to Apple products, but it must be pretty good, otherwise Apple wouldn't be so scared of it.
My only issue is the duty I had to pay to bring it into the country. Beware as it adds considerably to the cost of the product.
It is very nice Tablet without any scratches or scuffs. The only disadvantage is that it doesn't have built in slot for extra memory card or no direct USB port. Also I am unable to change the Font size to bigger. There is no option in settings to increase or reduce the Font.
The Galaxy Tab is,light weight, and easy to use. The battery lasts all day with my usage which is frequent. It only has 1 major drawback, Printing any time you attempt to print it tells you that you needa Samsung printer. There are work arounds but they are cumbersome. When I replace my Tab it will be with a different brand that allows printing with any prnter
this tab is awesome , i wanted one so bad and it is everything i wanted it to be. its my first tablet. I want to use it for school and it has a word doc. which i am really happy about. Also is very fast and easy to figure out. The only thing i am thrown off about is the charger. It does not charge with just any charger. I have ordered one online from samsung so hopefully it will get a proper charge. Other than that i have think this is great. I bought it used and I couldnt have asked for a better deal.
I have had this tablet for about a year and it performs adequately. I am very happy with the product. When I bought it, i wanted it for the flash capability that IPAD did not have. Most web sites for school used flash and I would not have been able to sign into Safari books either. So I ignored the apple hype and went for it. I got to say that I am not disapointed in the slightest. I expect to purchase the quad core that is out now and I have played with that an I believe apple has a lot to worry about. Now the law suit makes sense. If you cant beat them sue them. anyway you won't go back to return this one. you may even break anyones fingers that try to touch the screen ;). Stop thinking about it already go get one for your self.
