This was my first Android phone coming from a Blackberry. Yes, BB hardware and software are rock solid and this is very different. But the marketplace makes all the difference. If you simply want a phone, then stick with BB. If you want a far wider world, then Android makes perfect sense. My only concern is that Samsung is very slow at software upgrades, since this is still running 2.1 and really should have been upgraded by now. The screen is the most amazing quality. Performance is good, no lag at all. I am very satisfied and will stick with this one for a while.
cocoknife made a good point about the camera vs the iphone, but everything else was nonsense. Coco said something about not having google maps, thats because it comes with bing maps, so you dont need to DL vz nav for 10 a month. Also, dont forget you have the market where you can DL apps, for example GOOGLE MAPS lol!, also if you use a verizon only app then yes its locked to your phone, its been like that for years, thats why you go on the market place and DL a proper android media application then you can DL all the music you want to and transfer it however you want. Its all about knowing how to use this phone and the marketplace properly. In my opinion its very close to the iphone, you just have to know how to use it.
The phone, along with all the accessories, showed up in perfect condition and a day earlier than expected!! This phone is the best phone I've ever owned. The screen is big, clear, and very bright. The camera takes excellent pictures and the video camera does very well with taking HD videos!! I would highly recommend this phone to anyone interested!! In my honest opinion...Samsung>Motorola.
I love everything about this phone. I have never had the iPhone so I cannot compare it to that. The fascinate is user friendly and has a big bright screen. I cannot think of anything I would change. I use it for personal and work emails, lots of texting and about 2 hours of phone time a day. I use the basic navigation app and I have a few free game apps I play regularly.
I have all of my music on my ipod touch so do not use the music capabilities.
Recently, I moved from a Blackberry to an Android. I had this phone's sister phone on T-Mobile's network (Vibrant), but had to switched because I needed better coverage than T-Mobile offered. I have not been disappointed with this line of phones.
The screen is is just the right size--not too small, not too big. The colors are bold, vibrant. I think the layout is a little too iPhone-like, but it's still very clean and easy to navigate with the side scrolling screens. The phone itself is fast, and I haven't experience much lag with it.
Overall, I'm happy that I went with this phone.
Great phone for beginners
I would recommend this to a friend!
"This was my first android smart phone, and after a little shopping around, I decided to go with the Fascinate because of it's price, looks, and features. It took me a while to get used too, and there are still some features I am unfamiliar with, but it's not that hard to figure out if you try. It's very streamlined and is really easy to personalize. Oh, and the displays are AMAZING. The preset background is this coi pond thing that's absolutely gorgeous, but will drain your battery. The speakers aren't too shabby either. That being said, there are a few things I don't like. Sometimes it has issues switching between horizontal and vertical views, and showing the keypad during a call. I don't like using the swype function, but they really push it on you and it can affect typing. Also, there are some things that can't be changed. I hate bing, but they make you use it and there's no way around that. You also can't get rid of any of the preset applications, so I'm stuck with a couple of useless apps taking up space. Even with all that, I would still recommend this phone to people. It's been a great phone to me and I really can't complain, especially with all the issues that other smart phones have.
This phone is amazing! You can download all kinds of apps. I was debating between a iphone and this one and with the apple phones you can only download apple apps. This phone you can download apps that people have made as well as major brands.
The only downside is that the battery is a tad bit of an issue. But I dont think its as much of an issue as some other smartphones. And the phone doesn't have a front facing camera so video chatting with people is possible but doesn't make since because you cant see yourself or the people you're talking to.
Great phone! Great features!! AMAZING!!!
Ported old number from PagePlus and activated on PagePlus Cellular in 5m with a prepaid plan, no data. I'm using WiFi to get apps, sync with Outlook, etc.
Phone seems very fast and easy to navigate the menus. Verizon doesn't lock out apps that are not on the store so you can download any app. ATT locks you out!
Used phones are a little pricey but still a lot cheaper than going with Verizon 2 year plan if you count monthly charges.
This phone has the best display of all time. Its fast, it works well, the touch screen is very responsive, the size of the scree makes everything from surfing the web to typing easy as it can be. Samsung has done a very good job of making the interface easy to use (you can compare it to the interface one the iphone) and its just as good. Hey, if you don't like the interface then just download a new one from the market. Try that one with an iphone.
You cant go wrong with this phone.
Its light, slips into your pocket with ease and the battery last for 3 to 4 days with moderate use (that my be my favorite thing about it).
Samsung Galaxy - GET YOURSELF ONE!
I recently purchased an off-contract Galaxy S to use as a mobile Internet Device similar to my iPod Touch.
I COULD NOT BE MORE PLEASED!
It does EVERYTHING the iPod Touch does PLUS
external memory card
about half price (under 100$)
Just look for one with a screen protector and case.
I will be like new when you replace the battery. Try that with your iPod Touch.
Now how much extra does Apple charge for 32GB of memory?
Let me repeat:
I COULD NOT BE MORE PLEASED!
Oh, did I mention that when I want 3G data I just pay Virgin Mobile $20 for a months worth of more data than I can use.
My original one was stolen, but little did I know that verizon has a tracking tool. Avoid the Find my Droid download, useless. This phone looks complicated, but it is very easy to navigate and I love all features about this phone. The only downside is the life of the battery, but that can be fixed by buying the extended life, which lasts for at least a week. I use this phone for everything and it is great! I don't think I will ever have another phone. I wish they made a case for the extended life battery, but presume that will be in the works. This phone does it all. Pictures are clear; howeveer, you must use with minimal movement for a better non blury picture. The Internet navigates quickly and I could access even high on a mountian top, while my friend could not with her AT&T phone. There are so many features, so once you got it downpacked, the phone is very easy to use. I recommend this phone to anyone wanting a droid.
