I stumbled upon Ranma when researching Rumiko Takahashi's more recent manga & anime, Inu-Yasha. Since I myself was writing a book about a boy changing into a girl,I thought I'd check out her take on it. What a world of fun & goofiness with an undercurrent of seriousness. Poor Ranma, the 16-year-old martial artist who becomes a girl when splashed with cold water, is beset with persistent, demanding fiancees and suitors of both sexes; a father who is a panda and engages Ranma over and over again for food etc.; and a mother who will insist on Ranma committing suicide by seppuku if he isn't manly enough. If that isn't enough trouble, he is always being challenged by pratitioners of strange schools of martial arts like martial arts pairs skating and martial arts fast food delivery. Somehow, he always comes out on top, often with the help of his temperamental "uncute" fiancee, Akane.
This third volume of Ranma 1/2 was actually the first experience I had with this series (ages and ages ago!), and also one of the first graphic novels I picked up, kicking off my love for this genre of literature.
I love this series--it mixes action, humor, and romance with adorable artwork, very memorable characters, and a great storyline! Would highly recommend!
This is just one manga from an entire series of what i believe to be a masterpiece created by none other than the genius Rumiko Takahashi. It is a MUST READ book! You cant go wrong with Ranma!
Ranma 1/2 is just pure manga fun! Ranma is a 16-year-old Japanese boy martial artist who, to his dismay, becomes a girl when splashed with cold water due to a ancient chinese curse. How he deals with it, high school, and constant challenges to battle from practitioners of martial arts pairs skating, martial arts dining, martial arts fast food delivery and a minimum of three fiancees is always funny, entertaining and even occasionally moving. I am collecting the whole series (30+ volumes) so this review can do for any of them. (P.S. His father turns into a panda!)
Ranma 1/2 is a action-filled/hidden romance/crazy comedy graphic novel or better known as manga. Rumiko Takahashi did a WONDERFUL job writing these books!!!

Ilike that it is the 1st edition of ranma 1/2 that it has bigger size format than the 2nd edition, I decide to buy it because of a good price and I really like to see ranma 1/2 manga after I ve seen the anime
Well I haven't read the book yet but I know that's very enjoyable since I have all seven seasons of the anime series. So I assume that the manga will be excellent^_^
