It keeps the children busy and i can buy decent games for the kids without breaking the bank. I love the price and the smallness of the system but i feel they should include more support to a different genre of games besides Mario! Also add better support to HD content since i probably wont use the HULU or Netflix App since its not the best quality.
It does what I intended it for, to play netflix and the small amount of games that i desire it to. For those who are hard core gamers I wouldn't recommend this product. Kid friendly and good for hooking up a tv with netflixs.
The Wii was a a good invention in its time, but now the technology is getting outdated. Although this is more of a budget motion detection gaming system then buying the equivalent options for the Xbox and Ps3. The alternatives are indeed better but this was good for basic motion detection games.
The price is definitely a plus as these will go for less then an xbox or ps3 with the requisite attaching peripherals.
I also think it is more user friendly, but not by much. The games are fine but I do not really think that the motion capture tech can really compare with the alternatives. You still have to hold a controller and sometimes new users have issues finding the "finger" on the screen.
The Wii console is a lot of fun to play with but beware that the AC adapter is only for one voltage. The unit I bought was for 120 volts and I plugged it into 240 volts. It has been so long since I had a problem like this. Most electronics will sense the voltage and adjust between 240 and 120 volts. I was surprised that a Japanese product sold and used all over the world would be so 1980's in its manufacture. The problem was solved by buying a new AC adapter of the correct voltage. This one will not work in the US if I visit there again with the unit.
Innovative design from the great Nintendo! Use motion controls to play games as opposed to the standard controller that has been a standard in gaming for 30+ years.
Console game selection is below average with the most of the really good titles made by Nintendo i.e. Mario, Metroid, Wii Sports.
By far the best feature of this console is the Virtual Console. If you have internet capability at your home, you can connect the Wii to the Internet and purchase games from the Virtual Console. There are full games from the NES, SNES, & Nintendo 64 that can be purchased at a moderate price.
Very good for entertaining a group of friends. Not so great if you are the only one playing usually.
Had a Wii for about 1 year and got tired of it taking up space and not being used. The Xbox 360 Kinect is a much better option if you are looking for motion control gaming.
It works ok so far- have only used it twice because to be honest it is so gross & the straps are so dirty, I don't want to touch it until I get new straps and covers- so will cost me more money.
When I opened the box I was greeted by the disgusting smell of cigarette smoke ! Immediately grossed out.
Then seeing how dirty the controllers were ugh- I immediately wiped them off with bleach & a ton of dirt came off easily.
I would think a seller could at least wipe off the surface crud before selling.
I really enjoy some of the wii games and the fun of a wireless/motion console. However, I find that the wii overheats and burns out easily (it loses the ability to read disks) and the games you buy direct for the console without disks cannot be transfered over to another unit, unlike with other console systems. A fun system overall but be advised that the system is "fragile" and be prepared for it to die.
I have one and stop working so i buy a other one because also i have a lot of gave for wii.the product take a little time to read games.
Great for a bunch of kids, old people, or ur girlfriend. Or maybe causal emo players who will be all like, DURRRR IM MARIO!!! The graphics are only equivalent to a ps2. If want an awesome game like deadspace, you will get a dumbed down version of it.
However there is plenty of other things to do. Especially if you get a wii cheap. The time i get to spend with my daughter playing wii is priceless. Till she grows up to be an emo, and then its fingerless gloves and DURRRRR IM A ZELDA TAKE THAT MOTHER BRAIN >.<
I bought this for my 5 y/o son. Unfortunately the motion controls are much harder to master than expected. He's done much better with a traditional controller on xbox.
