I purchased this litte nikon to replace my old Kodak Easy Share 7.1 MP camera. Overall the camera is easy to use and the software that comes with it is really great. My only complaint is that when you zoom in to take shots of little things like a bumblebee, the image gets fuzzy. Also, I noticed it does not do well with action shots. Again, the image gets blurry. I will keep this camera for taking quick shots, but have just purchased a nikon d5100 for close up and action shots.
I bought this camera to take pics of a toddler grandson, but the time between shots can't keep up with him! lol This camera takes wonderful pictures and has many great features and options- especially for the price!!! I do love it, and have a few other older Nikons- along with a Canon too. I love the ease of use and it seems alittle sturdier built than some other cameras, even though slim. So if you have the luxury of waiting a few seconds longer between shots, definitely pick up one of these cameras for fun.
I have bought it for taking photos and videos as often as possible, without much of professionals skills. Used in the day time and in the evening, indoor and outdoor and on moving subjets, I'm quite satisfied with the results.
Good quality, easy to use, it worths every penny. I like the colors, the contrast and the focus of most of them, it looks naturals. It's sometimes long between 2 shots at +14Mpx but I supose it's normal depending also on the details present on the image. It function perfectly in auto focus with auto scene mode if you have 2 seconds for fixing it. Most of the times there's no delay. And I was really surprised by the quality of photo on backlighting situation. Anyway, I haven't yet check every single setting and option available, so I could not tell you more about. Just that so far, I love it. For every day use and not professionals users it's good.
Bought this item to do green screen work. Along with good software (Sony Vegas - not included with camera, obviously) this works wonders with a green screen. Also takes great stills in decent light. Very light and thin, a lot of features for more advanced users but also a point and shoot for novices. I was hoping for better exposures in low light since this has a great ISO rating, but I was slightly disappointed. However, it does take semi-decent video in low light. Overall, not a bad camera. I've come to expect greatness from Nikon, and generally the company has never disappointed me. I would definitely buy this again.
This is a very small, light weight camera that is ideal for grab shots or as a back up on a trip. Despite the 14MP rating images do not appear sharp or crisp. Color quality is only average without any real impact. It does have a wide angle(28mm equivalent) lens. Because of its small size the camera requires a special battery. Without knowing the performance of other similar cameras I cannot tell you how it compares. If high image quality is a must I would keep looking.
Learning to use any new digital camera is like breaking in a new pair of shoes. Even with the manual, it takes some time to figure out how to use it. I use the camera to photograph art, and jewelry. It works great with the flash, and ok with close ups, but, make sure the subject is perfectly still, if it is in low light. As with most digital cameras, keeping the ISO below 400 keeps the image from being grainy, and, I have had some trouble photographing clouds, and sky scenes.
Great camera...lightweight...slim design...charges quickly...great value and easy to use even if you aren't familiar with Nikon
I bought this camera because the old digital camera I had made the pictures look really grainy. The Nikon Coolpix s3100 was really good! I used it just the other day at a soccer game and it took great pictures! Even when you zoomed in all the way, they didnt turn out grainy or blurry. Its really easy to use and it has a lot of different options.
The video recording though, not that great. Well, it didnt turn out great at the soccer game when I tried it there. It was blurry and lost focus. But it works fine when Im at home and just filming in the living room or something.
Camera is easy to use, takes great pictures outside and in bright light conditions. Video good as long as you use a tri-pod. 720p is not like 1080p resolution. I wouldn't call it high def, but it is watchable. Camera is OK in low light with flash as long as subject is not more than 4 ft. away.
I really like the camera. Unfortunately the seller forgot to mention that the shutter does not close and open correctly when powering up and down so I have to use my finger to accomplish this task. Other than that is a good camera.
