I upgraded from Droid X to the X2 a couple months ago. It is a used phone, but I flashed it to Page Plus to save a little money. Doesn't work with page plus as well as the X did unfortunately. My data connection doesn't work. No 3G, No picture messages.
The phone itself is pretty good. Less glitchy than the X. Doesn't randomly power down all the time like my X, graphics don't freeze when the gravity sensor is activated. Almost seems a little slower though than the X, could be my imagination though or maybe the fact there are more apps on it than my X.
Only wish I would root it so I could get rid of all the crappy pre installed apps like Verizon video and v cast and navigator. Haven't had much luck with VPN software either.
Should you get it? YES! It is one of the best Android 3G phones you can get in my opinion. The 8.0MP camera, Android 2.3.5, 8 G of integrated memory and dual core technology. It works for me because I can put it on my prepaid network, good bang for the buck and it is way better than Page Plus' phones.
I bought this phone to use with my pageplus account. I wanted a good non contract phone that wasn't too far out of date. This phone accomplishes that. Programing it to pageplus wasn't difficult and the service and call quality are great.
The phone arrived in excellent cosmetic condition, was wiped clean, and alreaded rooted. The only this was that it arrived with verizon bloatware on it, but that is easily removed with other software. The touch screen works well and is very responsive. The built in camera is ok. The quality is decent, but pictures still look like they are taken from a cell phone. Software wise I haven't experienced any glitches or freezes. It does get sluggish from time to time, but nothing I feel is too noticeable. If you don't overload it with apps, the phone will work fine. Another thing is that this phone is only 3g capable, but this was not an issue to me.
Compared to other phones, the x2 seemed to have the most features for the least cost. After 2 weeks of searching, the x2 seemed to be the best fit for me money/feature wise.
It is a sleek large screen phone which I love because it makes things easier to read and gives it more space for content. Its display is probably its big design masterpiece in my eyes but i also dig the hardware. The physical buttons on the bottom seem a lot more practical than constantly brushing up the usual touch-sensitive ones on android phones. Its camera and camcorder are also very high quality for a cell phone. Don't be scared of that large screen either, it is still very pocketable because of its thin body. overall, this is a great android phone with a friendly interface, dual core processing speeds (fast), and much more.
Great smartphone. Great camera MP's. If you want a keyboard this phone is not for you. The only keyboard is the touch screen keyboard. If you can deal with that its a great buy(well for the price I got it for). HDMI capable which I found a great plus.
Best phone i ever use,, better than Blackberry..
i very disapointed using blackberry as primary phone..useless..
this phone is very powerfull..better gps..and better screen..
great great great with a evdo data that powerfull and fast internet..once again..better than blackberry..
Great screen clarity. The only problem is when I want to send a text, the phone is slow to react. I have to touch the keyboard several times before it ever appears on the screen. I would say it is the next best thing to an iPhone.
There's no forward facing camera. There may be a short because sometimes it flashes through screens. It's great if you have the car dock and media center. The battery life is horrible. It has to be charged a few times a day so it's best to have a few of them. The screen is a good size. It doesn't get hot. It has a nice weight to it if you like metal phones. In comparison to the Droid Razr it loses, but compared to most other phones you can't beat it. I got mine for less than $50 refurbished.
This phone has a great screen with crisp clarity. Light weight. Far better than the Droid 2. The one CAUTION I advise is if you use a Company email, the phone will not sync unless you buy Touchdown software which will cost you $20.00.
If you Google Droid x2 corporate sync you will see the numerous frustrated owners.
Terrible that Motorola has let this go on without a solution!
Overall I'm very happy, and I'm picky. The last Droid I had an A855 the original Droid sucked (slow screen, was erratic). The new one is fast, and the screen glitches are minimal. That being said. The screen is overly touchy (too sensitive). I dont like that I can't removed all the junk preloaded by Verizon, without rooting it. I guess will have to, just to get rid of the trash. Why would you stream video, if you have a data limited plan? Why stream even music, just buy it off emusic or whatever. Even buy an actual CD - heard of those?.
I have pageplus so I have 2gb date for 55 with unlimited talk and text. The data plan is 3G only so a newer droid wont work. So this is the biggest best phone pda droid I can get...
Good luck with whatever you chose....
This is an AWESOME phone! BUT if you text a lot or your ALWAYS ALWAYS on it, it seems like the touch screen doesn't last. I am always on my phone and this is my second droid x phone. I now have the droid x2 and I am getting a different phone. After so much use the phone seems to lock up and touch screen lags and freezes. Other than that it is a great phone but I have noticed these little issues. And the camera has issues at times too. Hope this is useful
