One of my Fave 5, even after 20 years!

Still a fave 5 for me, even after 20 years! It's one of the few reasons to get an NES console, as it is one of the few NES games that are not enhanced on SNES & it is also not on any other system. Graphics, although 8 bit, are on par with a SNES game! Sound is not quite as good as SNES, but close! Gameplay & animations in this game are better than any other NES & that is what make this game so addictive! Its game levels start off super easy & wind up super hard at the end, which are trademarks of NES/SNES games & this feature also allows any gamer to be apart of the fun! Mike Tyson even looks alot like himself, which I must say, no other NES game even comes close. You don't even have to be a boxing fan at all to enjoy it and maybe that's why its so popular among others! You'll have to battle fighters with super punches, combos, tricky punches, KO punches, & you'll have to beat them with only 5 punches(only 1 super punch) in your arsenal. It has sort of a Rocky feel to it, as you, Little Mac, are much, much smaller than the men you have to fight.

Favorite games:
1. Marvel Vs. Capcom 2(Dreamcast)
2. Samurai Showdown 2(either Arcade and Neo Geo versions)
3. Sonic Adventures (Dreamcast)
4. Mortal Kombat Trilogy or Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3(I haven't played this game in such a long time that I have forgotten the exact name; the one with all the characters on PS1)
5. Mike Tyson Punchout(the one with Mike in it)
6. Killer Instinct(SNES)
7. Ms. PacMan(Arcade, SNES & later)
8. Super Mario Allstars(SNES)/Super Mario 3(NES)
9. Super Mario World
10. Sonic & Knuckles(Sega)
11. Cruis'n USA(Arcade)
12. Tetris(SNES & later)

Keys to beating Tyson: Get past the 1st round by quickly dodging his fast KO uppercuts & hitting him twice. After about 1:30, he will start to throw his med. speed jabs; dodge them & hit him twice as before. Strategy: you might decide to get him close & not knock him down in the first round; this will make it easier to TKO in the 2nd.

In the 2nd, you want to dodge his med. jabs & hit him whenever he misses; use punches to try & get pink occasionally, as he is even more predictable when you are pink. DO NOT TRY THIS IN ROUND 1 & AGAINST ANY OTHER FIGHTER. He will throw a med. speed jab & two fast, not KO uppercuts; he does the same thing everytime you get pink in the 2nd. Dodge these, until you change back & tag him everytime he misses. Also, when he continually blinks his eyes, if you time the punch right, then you'll knock him down; if not, you will get a star & you must be ready to block. You can land a star either as he misses a jab or as you are tagging him after any 2nd uppercut.

In the 3rd, his super unpredictability means that you'll have to be very good to make it out of this round; however, at the starting gate, when he goes down, & when you go down, he will IMEDIATELY throw a punch or series of punches. Dodge & tag him. If you get pink in the third round, don't panic; he'll do the same thing he did in round two; however, he is just way too unpredictable to use this as a tactic now! He also has this combo, which varies at times, that goes something like this: JAB, JAB, PAUSE, FAST UPPERCUTS(may use 1, 2, or 3 & either pause between them or speed up). To win, gain 5,000 pts. or TKO him. 4 times down & you're out!

It takes way more speed and timing to beat Tyson than anyone else & if you don't have them, you don't have any chance to beat him, period. So practice & concentrate!

One of he best NES games of all time.

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

This was one of my favorite games as a kid. Now that I'm older I still can't get enough of this game. Very easy to control, but you have to find key movements your opponents make right before they attack in order to dodge and strike at a prices time. If you can't figure out your opponent you're bound to lose.

Ahead of it's time!

I got this game when I was a teenager. At the time, the game was one of the best games I played on my Nintendo console. The game and console was replaced by Super Nintendo, then X-Box, etc. I just recently dug out that old Nintendo console and hooked it up to my Sons T.V. in his room, and started playing Super Mario Bros. I beat that game again in only a few tries after not playing the game in many, many years. Then it hit me. Ebay. I must find Mike Tyson's Punch-out! I picked one up for under $20. Got it delivered to my house in only a few days. I couldn't wait to pop it in and begin playing. I immediately began playing, and became immersed in the game so much, I thought I was 16 years old again. My fingers took over the controller like they had memory, and one by one, each boxer I faced went down by way of K.O. I don't know why I was so scared to face the next boxer as I defeated the previous one as a kid. It took me many weeks as a kid to beat Mike Tyson, while it took me just a couple days to beat the whole game after many years of not playing. Even if you never played this game when it came out, you will enjoy this game just as much as I did. Way ahead of it's time when it came out. My next purchase will be Contra. Another excellent game!

Great game, the Mike Tyson version is only going to get more rare with time

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Playing this on Wii U virtual console felt wrong. Not only was Mike Tyson not in the game but the timing was just not right. Once you get to the more demanding fights you will probably notice, for me starting with Soda Popinski. There is nothing like playing this on the original hardware. I immediately dominated in fights I struggled with on the Wii U. Mike Tyson is still one tough fight. This game is a classic and really fun to pick up and play anytime. Go for the original experience and play your NES on an old CRT television for the best experience.

Best Boxing Game Ever?!?!

For those of you that had an original Nintendo Entertainment System you remember Mike Tyson's Punch Out. In the days of cartoonish graphics this game had it all for not only the Mike tyson fan but every gamer at the time!

It's hard to imagine but yes, at one time Mike Tyson was a sports icon. This would have been pre prison time and facial tattoo. This game sold a ton of copies due to the great gameplay and storyline. You play as Little Mac who looks like a 5 year old in the ring with these guys but with this little guy you could possibly defeat Mike Tyson!

Before the days of cheat codes and wireless boxing glove controllers was Mike Tyson's Punchout. If you haven't tried it before...it's a must! 10 of 10

Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! Review

Wow. What an AWESOME game! This is the super popular game that started it all! Punch out is a game that is a boxing game, but it's not exactly an action game- it's a strategy game! It's very addicting and has many interesting characters. You play as little mac, a tiny little character that must reach his way up the ranks, and to the Dream Bout, where you fight the one and only Kid Dynamite, Mike Tyson!! Be careful, as he will knock you out in one punch!! Highly reccomended and have fun, kids!

Gotta Love this Game

Punch Out!!...a title anyone can enjoy. It is definitely one of the greatest boxing games for the NES. Punch Out!! is somewhat like the hit movie series Rocky, only a video game. So, if you like the Rocky series I recommend you play this game. There is also Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! which is identical to this. The only difference is; this one includes the boss, Mr. Dream, while the other is of course, Mike Tyson.

You start out as Little Mac, a teenager with dreams of a champ. Your trainer, Doc Louis, provides confidence and tips throughout your matches. Your goal is to become the most victorious boxer.

You have to love the gameplay in this game. Your goal is simply to "Punch Out" the other player. Sometimes an opponent might shake his eyebrows or have his own signature move in which you are suppose to respond with. I will have to give the gameplay 5 out of 5 simply because it's just the kind of gameplay you could not refuse to play.
