The best receiver I've ever owned (and I've owned a few nice ones).

If you're looking for all the latest bells and whistles, keep on looking. If you are looking for superb sound and build quality, put this one on your short list. My previous two units were a Yamaha DSP A1 and a B&K 507 S2, neither one a sonic slouch. The Marantz blows them away! The sound just floats off the speakers with a level of clarity and dimension that neither of the other two could muster. Not only that, it has a simple system of operation that is intuitive and very easy to use. And it runs very cool--the B&K could have substituted for a space heater in winter. The HDMI is only v1.1 but I have my Blu-ray decode and send the audio out as PCM and it sounds great. There are no fancy menus, no video processing, the auto setup is rudimentary (but effective). Many entry level receivers have a better feature set but you can generally find a work around for what it is missing. What you can't find is a work around for receivers with inferior sound or build quality. If you value quality over all of the latest gimmicks, keep your eye out for a Marantz SR 9600--your ears won't regret it.Read full review...

By far the best reciever I have owned. Easy to set up despite the many features. I did not even have to read the manual. The remote is awsome!
