I love this movie. It's a classic David Lynch, so if you enjoy his other movies, you'll love this one too. Bill Pullman is excellent and so is Patricia Arquette. It gets a bit confusing, but don't let that get you down! It's a fun watch and meant to be enjoyed simply as images and not always to be completely figured out. I like to think of Lynch's movies like dreams, with some reality and logic mixed in with mostly thrilling images. Enjoy!
A wonderful example of David Lynch in prime form, alternating between nervous anticipation and unsettling humor. Robert Blake's haunting performance almost steals the show and remains with you long after the film is over. This letterbox transfer of the original scope film far surpasses any pan and scan version where all the visual elements are lost. Quite the fun cinematic ride.
THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE DONE IN AN INTERESTING METHOD. IF YOU PAY ATTENTION TO THE SKIPPING AROUND IN TIME IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE. IT IS NICE TO HAVE A MOVIE THAT MAKES YOU PAY ATTENTION AND ACTUALLY WATCH IT RATHER THAN JUST HAVE IT LAID OUT IN FRONT OF YOU LIKE MOST OF THEM NOW A DAYS.DON'T LET THE IMPORT LABEL SCARE YOU OFF...TO FIND THIS ONE IS NOT EASY AND IT PLAYS PERFECT AND ISN'T A VOICE OVER OR SUBTITLE MESS. OVERALL, I LIKE THE MOVIE AND IT WAS A PLEASURE TO FIND IT TO ADD TO MY COLLECTION.
They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the only beauty this eye beheld was watching Bill Pullman (as Fred) giving his all in the lead of this nightmarish film for at least the first 30 minutes or so. Whereupon Bill and his character vanish completely (till the very end) and is replaced by another actor who's acting talents are vastly inferior to his family's fortune. This movie is for the folks who got sucked in by TWIN PEAKS and have never learned any better by the experience.
This Movie was Wierd! Thats not a bad thing, it keeps you guessing and wondering till the end, than leaves you to speculate on what happened. Fun and different. Kind of a Donnie Darko feel.
I really enjoyed the movie and watched it twice to get a sense of what was happening. Like Memento it had a way of starting at the end and kept you captivated throughout. It was very sensual and alluring and extremely well acted. I would recommend it to off beat indie enthusiasts like myself.
I have always like how this movie never really explains anything. It is two stories connected by a unexplainable event. I love the soundtrack to this movie as well.
Nothing could compare if you like dark movies. Not the Hollywood crap that is directed nowadays. The 1990s closed Hollywood!
