Not so very long ago, the vast majority of people had no idea what gluten was let alone how the mysterious substance affected the body. Those who were put on gluten-free diets for health reasons were pretty much left on their own as even most doctors and dieticians had no clue about which foods actually did or didn't contain gluten. Not only did this cause confusion but likely a lot of unnecessary suffering through the ingestion of gluten from foods that were thought safe, 100% gluten-free, and completely uncontaminated.
Information is slowly spreading to the general public and more and more people are aware that Gluten is in wheat. This true but extremely limited knowledge (gluten is also found in all sorts of other cereal grains, additives, and commercial products) causes many people to believe that they can be supportive of their gluten-free friends or family members by simply not serving bread- how about rice with a generous helping of soya sauce (also high in gluten).
Living Gluten-Free For Dummies simplifies the complexity of a gluten-free diet. This isn't one of those I want to lose weight diets it's an all or nothing lifestyle that has to be followed to the letter to produce the best results. The good news is that living gluten-free isn't about going without. There are plenty of gluten-free options.
This book is great for anyone suffering from gluten intolerance or celiac disease. From the person who is completely new to both or heard much about them. Very educational with lots of tips on where to find more RELIABLE information, aside from the abundance found in the book itself. Leaves very little to question, which is good when there's so much out there on these topics to question, on the net. It helps you get your footing and not feel so overwhelmed or confused. It proves that living with either of these conditions is possible and possible to do it well.I'm thankful Danna took the time to help us all out.
This book is great for people who are new to the gluten-free lifestyle as well as those who THINK they know all about it! I have done a lot of research and reading on living gluten-free and celiac disease--and I still learned a lot from this book. It is easy to read and easy to understand.
Wonderful and informative book for the new or the old gluten-free individual! My husband is newly diagnosed for Gluten-free and this book is a God-send. His sister has been gluten-free for over 20 years and even she is learning new things from this wonderful book. This book tells it like it needs to be in great, plain language that anyone can understand. Also.... The perfect gift for other extended family members who do not have a clue about gluten-free for holiday and special meals where gluten-free family members will be attending. I recommend this one for anyone who is or knows a gluten-free individual.
This book, like all the books un the "For Dummies" series, is very informative and easy to understand for the person who knows nothing about the particular topic. I would recommend this book to anyone who needs honest, straight-forward information on how to live without gluten in you life.
This is a great book. There are about 65 recipes for eating gluten-free. There is a section that teaches you how to eat out. Another name for gluten allergies is celiac disease. Not eating wheat can make a big difference in your life.
What a great book! Easy to understand and even humorous in places! I would highly recommend this book to anyone with a Gluten allergy or who has a loved one who does.
