The Hurricane (DVD, 1999)

I looked for this DVD at what I considered a reasonable price for a long time. There are foreign prints available, but I wanted the "real thing". It's a shame they never produced this DVD again after 1999, there are so few available, and the cost the few sellers who have it are charging, in my opinion, is just astronomical. I remember seeing this for the first time when I was a teenager, and it stayed with me - the love story, the incredible special effects for it's time, and the outstanding cast. The tropical island and it's native and "civilized" population portrayed perfectly added to the attraction for me. This movie presents a timeless tale of true love, an unfair world, nature's fury, and finally a happy ending. If I tell details, it will give the story away. Suffice it to say, watch it on a rainy day with a bowl of popcorn and someone you love by your side. You will not be disappointed.

The Hurricane (1999, DVD)

Very classic old movie. Love wins against all odds. A pacific Island with laws different from what the "island" natives are used to causes great hardship for a couple who are deeply in love. Very harsh weather is shown with really good special effects for a 1937 movie. John Ford directed this movie and I think anything he produced was great.
