Hulk (also known as The Hulk) is a 2003 superhero film based on the fictional Marvel Comics character of the same name. Ang Lee directed the film, which stars Eric Bana as Dr. Bruce Banner, as well as Jennifer Connelly, Sam Elliott, Nick Nolte and Josh Lucas. The film explores the origins of the Hulk, which is mainly attributed to Banner's father's experiments on himself, and passing these genes on to his son.
Development for the film started as far back as 1990. The film was at one point to be directed by Joe Johnston and then Jonathan Hensleigh. More scripts had been written by Hensleigh, John Turman, Michael France, Zak Penn, J. J. Abrams, Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, Michael Tolkin and David Hayter before Ang Lee and James Schamus' involvement. Hulk was shot mostly in California, primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area. The film was released with mixed reviews, and was a box office disappointment. Marvel Studios rebooted in 2008 with The Incredible Hulk. Hulk earned $61.2 million in DVD sales, bringing its total film gross to $306,560,480
The Hulk was released in 2003. This movie was an interesting adaptation that had a real comic book feel to it. There was a number of cut screens and other interesting effects that made it almost like an "Artsie Comic" on screen.
The acting was alright and the story was a bit silly at times. However, the scenes with Hulk fighting in them were just great! To me the best part of the movie is when Hulk has the cannon from the tank and he is using it like a mace/club. Awesome, true Hulk from the books.
Not bad for a first attempt, but I'm glad they rebooted the movie.
I first watch this movie in the theather with my buddies when it first came out and, I wasn't really impress; it was actually kind of dissaponting. Then one day my fiancee told me she hasn't seen it and on a bargain we bought the special edition DVD set. We finished watching it in 3 sittings because the movie is really slow and lacks the spirit to draw you in. The directors does a great job with the editing and the sound of the DVD but the direction and the story of the movie didn't help very much. The CGI Hulk transform in sizes all the time wich was kind of weird. This is something that "mostly" Hulk fans will enjoy. I have read the comics in the past and they are as slow as this movie.
This movie is clearly just "plain old average". It's a movie that I believe people want to really like. The main character, The Hulk is one that most comic book fans really want to see do well on the big screen. But really, the acting is average, the story line is average and the directing is average. If they could "re-imagine" this script, it could be very good because the CGI of the Hulk is actually outstanding. The Hulk graphics are excellent. Excellent!! But the villians are campy, and boring--not scary. The Hulk is cool. Compared to X-Men, Spiderman and even The Fantastic 4, and the older Christopher Reeves Superman, this doesn't hold up. Its much comparable to Superman Returns in the respect that fans wanted it to be much better than the end results turned out. Better luck next time.
The special effects are great and look way better on HD DVD.
This movie made some serious headway in special effects when it came out!
Think about it, the star of this movie is a computer animated character!
This is a good action film, the special affects are not the best I have seen but the movie can still catch your attention and is pretty good.
I thought it would be better. I mean it was good, but I like the cartoon Hulk better. The acting was alright. I bought the movie because it was cheap and I've never seen it before. So I wanted to check it out.
this was a fantasti movie overall.always great to watch.not too long and not too short just right.so yeeah i recomend it.
My son told me this movie was to eww for him,He likes the hulk but this movie made him kinda go back to spiderman. The picturer. are good but not for kids
