When Hogans Alley arrived (on time I might add), I tried it immediately to make sure it worked. The cartridge works fine, but the gun has some sensitivity issues (pulling the trigger does not always translate to a shot appearing on the screen), about this particular issue I'm not worried.
The game, itself, is very simple and the graphics are by today's standards, obsolete; and I love that! Playing older games and game systems inadvertently sets off strings of flashbacks and/or memories. I think the recall of feelings and ideas from years past is a truly beneficial side effect to engaging in video challenges of times long ago (in terms of technology; to me the days of the NES were are not that far in the past). As a sound constructor, playing games on older systems give inspiration and ideas when shaping sounds on synthesizers (and judging from most modern pop and electronic groups, I am not alone).
Hopefully, I will always have an affinity for older games and game system. I am of the opinion that it is good to hold on to pieces of your past (unless you are some sort of deviant, then one should seriously reconsider). As long as people are willing to part ways with their games and accessories, I will most likely be willing to part ways with some cash in order to obtain some of their games. Cheers!
Game is a must have if you own a Zapper Gun. Shoot Gangsters and thugs.Great addition to any gamers collection.
My 5-year old just loves hunting games. He likes Hogan's alley as it gives him lots of practice aiming for when he plays duck hunt! Great game. Kind of immature for any older age groups though!
