This is the worst smart phone ever! It can not handle doing more than one task without freezing and stalling every time. It is very slow, and no matter how many times I re-start it, it is still slow slow slowwwwwwwww. It opens every application on its own and kills the battery life in about 5 to 6 hours. I push on the screen to call somebody and the button push is delayed, and it is hard to tell if it knows what you are telling it to do.
Originally bought this for my mother, but it's so junky we ended up not using it. The screen is unresponsive at best and the entire operating system runs slow. Still makes use of trackball technology despite the full touch screen making navigation overall just miserable. Running an older OS and clearly just not up to par.
My Droid Incredible kicked the bucket, so I bought this phone to hold me over the few months until I could cash in an upgrade. Don't buy this phone. It pocket dials, I don't know how a touch screen phone with a password pocket dials, but this one does. I rely on my phone's alarm, but this one simply will not go off if the phone is plugged in the wall. And I need the phone plugged into the wall often because the battery seldom can make it through my standard 10 hour workday. I have a battery saver app installed, do not have emails pushed to my phone, and tend to be in lectures and meetings, so I'm not really on it, yet the battery rarely lasts until I get home. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE.
Perhaps the worst Android powered phone on the market?
The amazing thing is that there are so many positive reviews. From reading them you can only conclude that people wrote the reviews not long after receiving their phones and/or they simply don't attempt to use the phone for anything other than calls, txts and maybe Facebook.
We bought 2 phones. Within a year both phones had developed dead spots on the touch screen that eventually made both unusable and the screens had to be replaced (and yes we do keep them in cases that protect the screens heavily.) In my mind that can only equal terrible build quality. Whereas the iPhone we owned for 3 years before that still works as does my 4yr old iTouch and they've been greatly abused (I far prefer the Android OS though).
Then there's the technical side. The phone is hugely underpowered so that if you instal more than a few basic apps and it will slow to a crawl, frequently becomming unusable and making simple tasks such as answering calls slow and difficult. Task killer apps only help with that minimally.
Talking of making calls the internal speaker is awful.
And finally there's the memory or lack of. It's great having access to thousands upon thousands of apps. Unfortunately the phone does not have enough internal memory (the stuff you can't upgrade) to store more than a handful, which means continually removing and re-installing apps as you need them to make space.
In summary you literally couldn't pay me to use another Eris and due to the build quality it's doubtful we'll be buying any HTC phone in the near future.
I bought this phone to be a stop-gap between my Blackberry and when I am upgrade eligible for the Droid X. The phone is beautiful and works great except for the fact that it was stolen and locked out of Verizon's network. The quote from the selling page says otherwise, "Got a new phone because I didnt like it because it was hard to type on the touch screen." Sounds like someone is a liar, if you're going to sell a stolen phone don't tell me that it works just fine. Now I'm working with eBay to get my money back.
This phone started off nice and I loved it. Until I downloaded a few apps. And by a few I mean 8-10. No more than that. It bogged down the speed of any of the phones functions to a screeching hault. I'm convinced the positive reviews of this phone were written within a few weeks of getting the phone. I had mine for a year and I couln't wait to get rid of it. I paid the ectra money for an early upgrade just so I didn't have to use the eris any longer. And I couln't afford an upgrade. I now have the HTC Thunderbolt and the only single complaint I have is the battery life. But all in all this Droid Eris is an absolutely terrible phone.
I had this phone for about 1 month and had to get another, as it keeps freezing. I took it to the Verizon store and they said that this is the dinosaur of the touch screen phones, so it has a few issues with it, including the freezes...It does not have flash on the camera, either...I, personally, would not recommend this phone, except for a temporary phone.
Can't have live wallpapers.can't move applications to micro ds card.videos don't work on the htc eris.has no flash on it to take better photos.needs better features .needs a better camera.needs little more options.
this phone is a piece of s.... It is very slow. It is unable to work properly when connected to the internet. I will never ever recommend this phone to any of my friends. However; I had HTC prior to this one and they are great phone so I just very unhappy with this particular phone and model.
This is the worst phone i had ever purchased 2 thumbs down!!!!!!!!I bought this phone at a reasonable price but wasted it on getting this phone. Battery life is real bad even when you dont use the phone. It freezes.
