I cant believe the reviews this game is getting! 5 years in the making and this was the final product? I only play and buy racing games, I race motorcycles and cars in real life so I can say I am a diehard racing fan. Games like Grid and Dirt 2 never find a shelf bc they are swapped back and forth when I have the time to sit down and play a game. Anyway, my point is that after all of this hype and starting to accept the fact that there will probably never be another Grid, I could not wait for the new Gran Turismo to come out. After 5 years this game HAD to make Grid and Dirt look like a joke, right??? NOOOOOOOO Sorry for the dry enthusiasm but I couldn't resist. Supposedly the game was to have damage? Well I know in Grid when I hit a wall at 100mph my car does literally everything short of exploding. In Gran Turismo you get a scratch...after hitting the wall at least 5 times. No hand brake??? Seriously??? The game does not feel like you are really behind the wheel of the actual car. Not even close. This was the biggest drawback for me. My own car (2005 Audi TT, which is a 2003 in GT5, same car) feels like Im driving a Chevy Cobalt. As far as graphics, I cant lie, they are truly superb but nothing different then in Grid or Dirt and honestly they might even be a little better in them. I know people dont like negative reviews but I was so disappointed that I couldn't help myself. If you dont believe me, my copy is for sale right now on Ebay, buy it and prove me wrong.
...then dont buy it right away like i did. If you like racing games like need for speed or split/second, then this game is completely different and may bore you. If you have never played the series before, it doesnt teach you how to race better, you have to just know it. Instead it has these license challenges that have specific tasks for you to do like turning or stopping where it doesnt actually tell you what buttons will help perfect this and get you a gold.
Rent this game if youve never played it.
If you love the series, then go for it.
the game has good graffics but i hate the fact that you have to get certain lisence before you can get or even unlock certain cars.i honeslty i if i had it my way gran turismo and need for speed carbon would be mixed together . i just was kinda left down with the game play. theyve throughn a few things in like washing your car and changing you oil. but dang it if i wanna put a body kit on a 1969 camaro i should be able to. but real life graphics make ok. but sofar iv been let down by the game
I heard it was good and had 1000+ cars, and Ive owned Gran Turismo 1-4. Figured I would get 5. I am disappointed with it. Graphics arent great as they claim. I crashed into a wall and the car became a box. You cant change the wheels on every car, you cant mod every car, and what is only 20 hp with a turbo kit?! seriously? This game is full of fail and it was a waste of my money. Gran Turismo 4 was much better than this. Forza 2 was better! From what Ive heard, Forza 3 blows this out of the water.
