I bought the 1490T for all ofthe features it came with. I drove from Los Angeles to Portland Oregon and nothing but problems. As examples; In Medford Oregon I was told to turn on the middle of an overpass. When I didn't, the unit redirected me around a mile loop and back to the same spot again. We were leaving Milwaukie heading to McMinville and the GPS froze up. About two hours later it came back on. The Lane Assist only seems to work in areas that are well marked. I sure could have used it going through Sacramento Ca. where being in the right lane is critical. This unit does not tell you to make a legal U turn possible but instead takes you on a road trip back to the same location. I also noticed that the maps have not been updated. Neighborhoods that were over 4 years old didn't show up on the unit.
The good things are a clear loud speaker, bluetooth, and its size. I still may return this unit for a refund and try another brand.
I have been using this GPS for about 2 wks and already have had many addresses that it couldn't direct me to. The lane assist feature is a great help in manuvering around big cities. Also, I mainly bought this unit/model of GPS for the Bluetooth feature - and it is absolutely Terrible!!. It makes a noise every few seconds that sounds like I have a GOOSE traveling in the vehicle with me. I can't hear it but the people that I talk to can hear it and it is very distracting to them and it is loud enough to be overbearing to the conversation.
I have had a random shut off problem. I think it has something to do with bluetooth and Garmin has been no help. The other thing is with free traffic you also get pop ads. Thanks but no thanks I miss my old street pilot.
I like the screen size, but I bought the 2011 maps with life time updates and it was a waste. The unit could not find or register Gardner White furniture stor 4 miles away. It wanted to send me 42 miles away to the only Gardner White it found. I have two Garmins and neither of them could find the furniture store. Most of the destinations that I punched in, took me 500 yards away from my destination and told me that I had arrived. I don't recommend this unit or any other Garmin for that matter. I have two kinds and they are both useless most of the time.
