I bought my first copy of Fallout 3 because I was a fan of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and heard this would be an RPG of a similar format... but with more "technologically advanced" weaponry and firearms. How could I say no to that?
I'm glad I decided on purchasing it, because Fallout 3 is now one of my all-time favorite games (and am pretty thrilled to have purchased a copy to replace the one I lost). The post-post-Apocalyptic theme is endearing in a morbid kind of way. It has nearly unlimited replay value, as you have multiple options for character design, side quests and the main story line. Its soundtrack is easy to love, with its swing, big band style tunes. The weapons are inventive and fun to use, and the kill animations are gory enough to keep my attention, but not bad enough to make the most squeamish turn away.
The only complaint I have is that there are far too many glitches, especially for a game from 2009. There's no excuse; they should have been fixed by now. I've learned to work around them by saving frequently and carefully checking game wiki sites to avoid the more common ones. For me, it's not a make-or-break issue, but can easily see how it would be for some.
I believe Fallout 3 to be a true classic. It's worth a try.
This game is an excellent investment for any devoted gamer to play, but it does have some flaws. My first play through had me over and done with in about 15 hours. This may sound like a lot of time, but simply following the main story causes you to overlook some very fun and interesting side quests that make up a majority of the game. I would highly recommend a game guide to go along with it to get the full effect. The "Game of the Year" edition is worth its weight in gold for the added DLC bonus. Each of the 5 DLC's add an additional 2-3 hours of gameplay to fully complete and also boost your max gamerscore potential to 1550. I would also suggest saving often, because this game has the tendency of freezing. This may have been an isolated incident with my xbox, but I have noticed similar complaints.
Love the story and the enviroment, game that'll have a lot of hours in fun in it I'm sure. I love how it's like Oblivion, but in a modern post nuclear era. Use of guns and explosives isn't overly powerful and I've found myself using a wrench every once and while. Especially for the multitude of small enemies like rats and weak humans who attack me on site.
I bought this product because I borrowed the non GOTY game from my friend and I loved it and wanted add-ons for a reasonable price. The price of 30 dollars is great because it has the game AND add-ons. The add-ons on XBL are 10 dollars each and there are five add-ons. You do the math. I recommend doing the add-ons very early in the game because if you don't you'll get the add-ons done and have no way to use the cool new weapons and armor you receive for doing an add-on.
I bought Fallout 3(Game of the Year Edition) because I've heard from many people that it was a great game and I also wanted all the expansions. Once I got my game, I played it for several hours straight and I loved it. This is a must play game for any gamer and buying it on Ebay was definitely cheaper that buying it from a store.
Fallout 3 is a very addictive game. The game play isn't too hard and the story is interesting. It allows you to play in 1st or 3rd person, which i think is a cool feature. I would recomend this game to any serious gamer.
